I Didn't know where to post this so if I put it in the wrong place please move if you wish. This may be a little long. My wife & I are garage sales people. We stopped at a garage sale and as usual we split directions and real soon my wife came over to where I was carrying something by the shape of it I though was a gord. She said you better check this out, well by this time I new I was onto something-thanks to my wife. When we went to pay they wanted $2.00, well being a big spender I paid. They weren't busy so I got the story of how this burl came to be.

These folks about 20 years ago went to Alaska to visit family. They decided to go fishing on some lake close by. After several hours of fishing they decided to call it a day & up from the bottom of this lake came this burl. It had 2 branches attached to the burl. After getting home from fishing they cut off the two branches. They returned to Idaho with the burl and now I have it.

My wife thinks it should be a porch decoration but I think it should be cut up into pens. I guess after I cut into the burl I may know what kind of wood it is.

I don't know where to start the cut, long way or across.

Preston

Tell her it would just look trashy, or the neighbors would think she had no style. You would be doing her a favor.

If you set it on the porch, neighborhood dogs will come over and hike their leg on it. To keep that from happening, you should dispose of it in your shop.

I cannot wait to see what is inside. If it were my burl, it would be cut lengthwise and not cross until I saw what the grain looked like.
Congratulations.
