Please everybody hold thumbs! I placed my first order on Woodcraft Online and really hope the parcel makes the whole trip to my doorstep and doesn't get lost along the way - we have a lot of difficulty in getting these delivered in South Africa... I ordered my first M3 blanks and cant wait to get turning on those...:befuddled:

Hi Chrisjan,
I have been ordering stuff from Woodcraft and a few other suppliers for years.
Some now refuse to deal with us. So what! there is always somebody else willing to do business.
All have been sent by USPS (flat rate) and I have never lost a package.
One did go missing for 6 months though.
UPS and couriers are a rip off. Extremely expensive and you do not get anything any sooner than USPS.
As soon as it leaves the ground it goes into the normal system.
The best time I have had was 8 days from the US to me in Rosetta. Normal is 14 to 18 days.
Not a good time to expect timely service from the SAPO (all in the holiday mood) but you will get it.
Enjoy the blanks.
Phil

Hi Phil,

I got is quicker than I expected - but had less luck with our own Postal Service in last week - from Mr Woodturner - Overnight and oit was at Tshwane Hub - but they were on strike - got it three days late...

I think you're lucky - the first two packages I sent to SA didn't get delivered and I had to give refunds. I still ship there but only with the understanding that the buyer owns the package when it leaves the USA.

I haven't shipped into S.Africa in years, but the last one was definitely memorably. I worked for a forwarding company that specialized in oil field explosives... we had a large shipment of shaped charges into J'burg which made the trip without a single hitch.... however, I could not get a permit from anyone in the S. African government to ship the detonator cord... without the det cord the charges were useless and could not be detonated, so no way to fracture the wells they were there for.... after about 4 months of wrangling with government of S.A., I wound up shipping the det cord into Namibia where it was received by the consignee and then smuggled across the border to job site.
