I just saw a few comments on a great pen about the direction of the scales of the snake skin. I often wondered about this because I do a lot of segmenting with snakes and sometimes the inlays not in the center of the tube. I like the short side of the blank to be at the top because I think it has a more balanced look. Sometimes when I trim the inlay of the skin the short side is toward the bottom of the scales. I rather go with the the balance than the scale direction. The next question is which is at the left or right of a horizonal pen the top, clip, or the bottom, nib. I would think the clip would be at the left because thats the way we read and write.
