It turns very nicely, leaving a orangish powder that gets into everything. Yup, that looks like Padauk. Make sure to wear breathing protection when turning AND SANDING padauk.

I just turned and sanded a single slimline pen out of this stuff and my 3M N95 respirator mask is visibly stained orange. I'm glad that at least 95% of that didn't make it into my lungs...
