psi ordering procedure?

I placed an order with PSI on wednesday evening (21) and I selected paypal as the payment method. I checked out and everything looked fine, it told me not to reload the page as it may duplicate the order or something along that line.. BUT I never got a confirmation email, no transaction on paypal or any word yet. Is this common for this or would something have happened? Do they just process the payment when they are about to ship?

I dropped them an email on the 21st but no response yet.

Tried calling them a few times today but all lines were busy, etc..

I knew the holiday would delay things, but curious if the order procedure was correct or if something got messed up..

On another note though, Ordered from Exotic about 5 minutes after the PSI and exotics box arrived today but never got a chance to pick it up yet. (Talk about FAST shipping!)

You can try the order tracking on the PSI website. Use your email address and zip to see if anything has been entered. Emails to them are a complete waste of time.
Try calling again and see if they answer.
It's a hit-and-miss type operation. Maybe because they are so busy but I suspect more like they are just not good at it.
It's a shame too because they have nice products at e reasonable prices.

Been trying to get the Large Dedicated Pen Blank Drilling Chuck Item #CSCPENCHK2

None of the suppliers have them yet that I could see.

My other item was 3/4" x 16 tpi Headstock Spindle Adapter Item #LA3418 that would allow the 1/8 chuck fit on my HF lathe.

Woodturningz had the adapter at 1/2 the psi price but no chuck.
Exotic has the smaller pen chuck.

Would like to get the bigger one as I like doing stoppers too but may need to drill them another method then on the lathe if I cant get ahold of the bigger version of this.
 
With respect to the other posters, I think you may have had a glitch in your order process... in 10 years of dealing with PSI, I've had none of the problems that others talk about... the orders go through, I get a confirmation immediately or next day and usually get the order in 5-7 days.... and being extra cautious with my monies, I usually choose the least expensive method of shipping.

I picked ground as my shipping method too, I think something may have happened as it should have came off paypal right away..?

It was the last evening on the 10% off the order too.. Hoping they will still honor that if it didnt go through as I had emailed them that night.. Will try to call them tomorrow.
 
When, and if , you get in touch with them on the phone, see if they will take the order over the phone with the discount. Also, I found out that if you choose ground for shipping, it may still be shipped via USPS unless you specify in the notes that you want it shipped UPS ground.
 
I, too, ordered on the 21st. PayPal payment confirmation, and a PSI confirmation. Since then, nothing! No shipping info and my order doesn't show up on my PSI order account. I tried to call 25 times throughout the day, always busy. Finally got through at 5:20, nice recording that they closed at 5:15.........

If you are having it shipped to Canada, be aware that you will probably get hit with the $25 charge UPS has for "clearing customs". You avoid this if you use USPS.

Very true.. But having it delivered to my KS address as I am here another month before heading to TX for 2 months. Getting turning withdrawals.. Dont have a drillpress with me to drill blanks lol
 
I placed an order on the 21st also, and like several others have received no info since the initial email confirming the order. Since I had had several experiences like this in the past with this company, I have learned to not expect fast service.
 
Something must have happened my order as I never got the confirmation OR taken from my paypal.. unless they process the payments after the orders packaged?
Yeah, that seems like a problem. My paypal transaction shows that it was completed when I placed the order.
 
Haha! I ordered on the same date, and only got one email since. I just went to double check what it said, and while I was reading it I got an email saying my order was shipped!!! Talk about timing!

I would give them a few more days. Reading this, I think they got a ton of orders on the wendsday before Thanksgiving, and can't pack/ship all of them in a day.
 
Check the cheers and jeers forum. A recent PSI complaint was responded to by a PSI rep. You could PM the rep and see if that gets you anywhere. There are a few items that, so far, can only be ordered through PSI. Good luck.
 
The last response I got from a PSI rep was to take my business elsewhere. My issue wasn't with shipping, even though it is horrible, but with the fact that I caught them giving false information and diverting blame to the post office when in fact they had not shipped the order. All I wanted was an acknowledgement that they made the error. No luck. I did find out that their F rating from the BBB seems to be deserved.
 
Well, after an email to Ed, my package is on it's way.

FWIW - 4 complaints out of thousands and thousands of orders
Over 3 years doesn't warrant a D rating with the BBB. If they
joined the BBB it would be an A rating with only ONE unanswered
complaint over 3 years.

Personally, if I want something from PSI I will look to a reseller here first. I know if I order from a vendor here I will get my product(s) on time.
 
I placed my first order with PSI and the package got within 20 miles of home according to tracking, which then said, "package returned to sender". Emailed PSI and got a reply within 24 hours that they would re ship 3 day at their expense, within 12 hours, received confirmation that package had shipped.
Maybe I'm just lucky, or have a charming personality, but in my opinion, PSI responded quickly and reasonably to an unfortunate circumstance, and I thank them for that.
 
I had the same problem. Turns out the order was never made so i did it again and it went through. Anyone else having no customer reviews showing up on their website. Must be a website problem
 
I've heard enough about PSI here and elsewhere that I'll probably never order from them.

I contrast my experience with Craft Supplies USA with other's experiences with PSI, and it's NO contest. Any time I've ever had the rare problem with CSU, they've gone above and beyond the call of duty to make it right. They follow up with postcards and phone calls. And I'm confident that they would NEVER tell me to take my business elsewhere.

I placed an order on Monday. I got a confirmation email, but not an email saying it was shipped. It arrived at my door today.

Must be nice... I just got the stuff today my wife ordered for me from them on the 18th. I told her that other vendors carry most of their stuff and that's how I try to source it!
I've dealt with PSI for years and have really never had a problem with them. Once they did send a wrong item but gave me no problems at all about returning it and sending the right one. They have taken my order over the phone as late as 3pm and shipped the same day.

One piece of advice I give anyone dealing with a vendor...keep your head, be nice and be respectful, the person you are talking to is seldom the person who processed the order and in probably not being paid enough to deserve abuse..and it is highly unlikely that they deliberately set out to screw up your order in any way. The golden rule still applies - treat them the way you'd like to be treated if the boot was on the other foot.
