I found a use for my Pen kit bags from PSI. I used them to hold some loose .303 British military surplus ammo. I wanted to find a way to seal these shells, so no air, and moisture will get to them. So I bought some plastic ammo boxes, for .308, and some for .30/06.....But the ones for the .308's were too small, and the boxes for the 30/06 shells, were too big.

So I tried some of these heavy mil zip bags from pen kits, and the ones from PSI fit good. The bags that I used were from psi's Bolt action, Magnetic Vertex, and art deco twist pen kits. I am sure that some others will work.

So if you have some unwanted bags like these...I am interested in 60+ of them.

Thanks

Just measure them & get some on ebay they are usually about $5.00 per 100 shipped for small ones or check Uline for the 3 mil or thicker if you don't have any luck here. I think most of us toss those bags right in the trash as soon as consumed if not before. I throw a lot of my kits into plastic storage drawer & pull parts as needed for that pen.

Yeah I always used my bags to mix epoxy or something similar and toss them.

You didn't ask for any suggestions on how to do this, but if I could suggest something. Take any glass jar that has a lid (like mason jar or glass mayo jar), put your spent ammo shells in them, and place them in a 200 degree oven. Let them warm up, take them out with an oven mitt and put the lid on them. 200 degrees won't damage the seal material (that's not even boiling) but it will be far less air, and more dry air, than what you'd have in the bags. You'd have canned ammo casings lol.

EDIT: I am assuming you are doing this with shell casings only, but your pic seems to have actual live ammo. I wouldn't suggest the oven treatment for live ammo obviously..... Not that you would actually do that, but I figured I'd mention this so that I didn't look any more dense than I am :)

U-Line S-269 are 2mil 4X6 bags and I have lots of them, they come in packages of 100. S-268 are 2 mil and are 3 X 5 also in packages of 100. Either will work and I'll let you have them for my cost plus what it costs to mail them first class.

If it were me, I'd keep them in an ammo can, but barring that, I'd put the cartridges in ziplock freezer bags (better seal than the pen kit bags) along with some silica gel. Quart or even gallon-size bags will hold a lot more and the dessicant will prevent corrosion due to moisture.

Regards,
Eric

Seems like most of the pen bags have a hole in them. I haven't seen one that doesn't. You need to find a friend that has one of those bag sealing machines that vacuums out all the air prior to sealing.

You took the words right out of my mouth. You can get a faily cheep vacuum sealer. That would work.
