I love my Toyota trucks and was wondering if there are more fans out there like me? I had 5 last week but sold one over the weekend. The ins. was killing me. I have a 79 2WD, 94 ext.cab 4x4 SR5, 94 Regular cab 4x4,and a 03 Tacoma 4dr 4x4. My wife has a Corolla. I'm working on restoring my 94 SR5. Parts are a little hard to find. I need a factory sunroof cover if someone knows where I can find one.

I had a couple of them for a while.
I had a '86 4Runner with a Toyota 2LT turbo diesel and a '94 4WD single cab pickup also with a 2LT diesel.
Loved em but not enough power or capacity.
Traded to Dodge Cummins and pulling a 5th wheel now.

Still miss the Yotas though.
 
I got a '06 Tacoma. Bought it brand new. The only major thing I had do to it was replace the universal joint. I put some new tires on it, but that was just wear and tear.
 
I bought my 2wd Tacoma new in '03,still going strong.What amazes me is aftr hittng lots of potholes,it's never needed an alignment.Still tracks perfectly straight,140 some thousand miles.That,and how it never uses any oil,or has never leaked a drop.

I put over 240k on my old Camry before the truck.That one was hard on alignments/tires for some reason.

Sure like Toyotas!

I had a 1986 4wd pu with 2 tone custom paint,roll bar,nerf bars, and a grill guard all chrome with the lights. It also had a factory 22r turbo charged. I always recieved lots of complements and loved the truck. I never drove it hard and took good care of it but when it had about 60k miles it blew a head gasket and warped the head. I milled the head and it lasted just under 15k and it happened again. I replaced the head with a new one then it happened one more time. As soon as it fired up I drove it to the lot and traded it in on a Jeep Cherokee.
 
i have a 95 4runner. new grille guard, running lights, cargo rack, 4" lift, and 35" mud bogging tires. tis my baby...... well one of them.
 
I am also a big Toyota fan and have had them for the past 20+ years. My current vehicle is a 1990 4Runner which I purchased new. It has 286,000 miles and going strong. I hope to make it to 500K before retiring it.

Okay, Think, think, think........I/we have had: a 73 Celica, 80 SR5 pick up, 86 Corolla, 2 80's Camrys, Wifey: corolla and a 80's pick up.

Looking to get back to Toyota soon. Maybe a Rav 4 or a Venza. I think my wife's parents had 3 T's and my parents 1 T.
 
Not to be a hater, but the Toyota I had was nothing but trouble. Got rid of it as quickly as possible! I've driven all 3 American brands, but my favorite most reliable has been my Ram truck.

My grandfather had a Toyota truck back in the late 70's. We went through two motors in that little jewel! But I've always been a GM guy... until I saw that they are now being built in China! No more GM's for me. And this coming from a guy who has refused to buy anything but GM for over 30 years. I've just never had trouble with them. Even when I had a fleet of trucks in the oil field. I had one break in 3 years and it cost me a whole $35 to get it back on the road. I had 1 Ford truck back then and it was in the shop more than it was in the field.

LOML just bought a new Honda Odyssey and we love it! And I love the Honda reliability thing. I guess we'll see. But I'm not a Toyota hater either. We've had a few for the kids to drive when they were in high school. So when my '07 Silverado becomes not worth keeping on the road I'm not sure what I'll do. I'll get another truck for sure. I don't like the Ridgeline so that doesn'e leave me many options. But knowing me, I'll probably go with a Texas built truck! And you know what that is!
 
After reading the thread and seeing a photo of a spotless truck I'm reminded of the movie "Cars":
Sarge opens a boot camp for off-road vehicles (who have never been off-road), and orders one who protests about getting dirty to drop and give him 20 miles.
 
1980 4wd Toyota was the last of the great ones. You could not kill it and could repair most of it with a 10 and 12mm wrench. I was the third owner and the fifth is still driving it on the same motor. There is just something fake about the new ones. When we have gone looking for a new car I test the Toyota trucks and nothing compares. Must be all the fun I had in that truck clouding my judgement.
 
OK OK I admit it. what ever flips your wig........ most auto manufactures do use a lot of parts that are from sources out of the USA.. not a hater of any brand vehicle. In fact I have had more of the others than my GMC ... Even my Harley Davidson that says made in USA. What is the first thing you see when the seat is removed.. a Japanese battery..

Amen! I currently own a ford, could not care less whose stickers are on the truck as long as it preforms! What I wanted to tell the toyota fans was simple, there are more tundras on the road in Alaska than any other truck! Y'all must be on to something.

Had too double check...Hondas sold in the US have been made in alabama or kentucky since the late 80's. I figured they would win but according to Car.com and a couple of other sources the car manufacturer with the highest precentage of US made parts over all was Toyota!

The Tundra is number 7 in individual modles.

Well I have had a Toyota before but now I only have Ford trucks, besides I always thought that when you get real serious about trucks you throw away your Toy's, :)
But really I like the dependability of the Toyota but in my logging work I need Ford, I have a 150, 350 and a 600.

Tundra driver

After a close call in my 03 Dakota quad cab, and luckily being able to walk away from a total with minor injuries. Hit in drivers door by a jeep making a left turn and not paying attention. I was going 45.

Bought a Tundra, because salesman lied to me about their Tacoma. He also lied to me about the Tundra.

It's a fantastic vehicle. No service problems, couple of stupid recalls.
Great road vehicle, pulled stumps with it over the weekend. Love it.

Didn't go back to Toyota when it came time for a retirement car for the wife. The 14 year old Camry was sold at a fair price and we are now the proud owners of a Subaru Outback, 0 (zero) defects found new, zero problems in over a year. Full time awd is fantastic. Came close a time or two in the past buying one. Wished we had now.

I'm glad to see some dedicated Toyota owners out there. I know you will have some problems with all models and makes but the Toyotas have given me the most dependability in tight spots when hunting and fishing. They are like an oversized 4 wheeler. The older ones anyway. They are being made too big anymore.
 
K, you got me, I can't resist. 2007 FJ, voodoo blue, aftermarket ARB front bumper, Gobi roof rack and ladder kit, KC Highlighters, Custom DVD sound system with custom fiberglass sub enclosure and custom painted tire cover. :biggrin:

The little white car is a 98 Subaru legacy AWD wagon...that's my winter ride.

The FJ was assembled in Japan but contains 71% American made parts. I work at the GM Delta plant but not directly for GM, and we build Acadia's that are 65% American parts. Toyota uses the most american parts of any car company, Ford is second, GM way down the list so far you need a telescope to find them. And that is why I replaced my wifes GM with a 2012 Ford Escape.

Can't exactly quote my numbers, just going by memory, but the number of American employees...real people that pay taxes and buy stuff and feed their families.
GM is something like 85000 but shrinking
Toyota was something like 365000

Top end of profits for Toyota after paying bills goes to Japan.
Top end of profits for GM, goes mostly to Japan and India, and Saudi Arabia ...ah, to be a publicly traded company eh?

I can't tell you how much I love Toyota. I've had, through the years, many Toyota's. My first car was a '84 Toyota long-bed pickup. My second was a '92 MR2 NA. My third was a modified '91 MR2 turbo. 4th is an '06 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner Double-cab long-bed pickup that I still have to this day!

My first Toyota was a '97 4Runner SR5 Limited and I traded it in at 268000 miles for a Tundra small V8, I love it. This Summer I brought home 8 trucks full (to the MAX) of REALLY good horse poop for my gardens. I have never shovelled so much POOP in my life!!! I'll have all Winter to prep my gardens for next Spring.

'07 Tundra driver here. Never a problem here.

Picking the best truck is actually quite simple for me. Just look at what the gardeners are driving, overwhelming Toyota. They just keep working.

I use to have a GM/AMC Jeep/ and had to get repairs to often on many moving parts normal wear so call (brakes etc.)
past 14 years I had Camry/2001 4 runner sr5 with 170,000 miles only change tires and water pump and still driving the 4 runner its a 2001.
My toyota FJ Crusier TRD 2007 special edition has 95,000 mile only repairs is NONE still have original brake pads as of now 40% front wear left.
purchase a set a wipers last winter. This 4x4 is only 1 of 3,000 made
very depenable. Something i must say GM can't offer along with resale value my 2cents,just saying:laugh:
 
Toyota scooped the Big 3. A Tundra will be towing the Shuttle Endeavor the last leg of the journey to it's final home. It will be filmed for a comercial, probably show up at the Super Bowl, or Daytona

I have no problem with the trucks or the company. Toyota bought a big part of my family farm to build a plant in Indiana and they paid me pretty well for that. I decided I would just keep the money and not give it back to them for a vehicle. I believe they used to build trucks there, but have moved truck production to another plant.
