A little over a year ago a friend called me and wanted to know if I could use some wood histology slide boxes for anything. My first thought was "with a little work these would make great pen boxes if I just put an insert in them". He said he had a couple of garbage bags full. What he failed to mention was that they were industrial size, 5' tall bags.
I've had these in my garage intending to make them into pen boxes for over a year. I went through and sorted them out today and this is what I have.

The boxes on the table are about 7-1/2" X 8-1/2" X 1-1/2" and the ones on the floor are about 7-1/2" X 8-1/2" X 2-1/2". The wood looks like a fir and is either natural or a red/brown stain. I have 36 natural 1-1/2" thick, 50 red/brown 1-1/2" thick, 11 natural 2-1/2" thick and 9 red/brown 2-1/2" thick.
Here is a picture of the inside

And a close up. The green box, (only one) is about 7-1/2" X 11" X 1-1/8" and the hinge edge is slightly faded. It is not wood, more like a vinyl cover.

These last 2 boxes are 3-3/4" X 6-1/2" X 2-1/4"

These will need to be sanded and restained but with a little work could make great pen boxes.
They are free to whom ever wants some. All I ask is you pay the shipping cost and any PP fee. They weigh at least 8oz each and I can get 3 in a medium FR box. PM me how many and which color/size you want and your zip code and I'll let you know the least expensive shipping cost. The more you take, the cheaper the per box shipping cost will be and if the weight is over 3 pounds, I can usually ship cheaper via UPS.
