I went out to the garage to cast a pen today. I have a gallon can of Silmar40. It's been a couple days since I used it and I couldnt get the lid off it. I had to use my backup can of cast'n craft. How can I get it unstuck and prevent it in the future?

Pry off the plastic slip ring then use a pair of slip joint pliers to open.

Make sure you clean up any resin on the threads before putting the cap on.

... with a rag soaked in acetone.

Or, alternately, you can decant the resin into a (thoroughly rinsed and dried) milk jug. It will be easier to open, and easier to pour from.

Hello Neighbor! I use the silmar 41 and I do this with every can. Take the can and punch three holes in the top with a ice pick or little larger.Make sure you do two on one end and one on the other.You will find it is actually eaiser to pour this way and won't run down the can as bad.When you are done pouring use three pieces of tape to cover the holes. Problem Solved!!! Good Luck!

If it is the metal can, you should be able to clamp on the cap with a Channel lock and slowly turn until it loosens.
