One of the people I work with was saying I was old, because I don't like the new music coming out. I told her that is not true, when Kid Rock comes out with a new album I am probably going to get it, same for Aerosmith, probably Bon Jovi (mostly for my wife). But that is not what she meant, she meant the LMFAO groups and stuff like that. Am I now in the style music I will like the rest of my life now? (I am starting to like country that is what is always on in my shop)

I'm with you. Most of todays music should not even be classified as music. But again, I just read where the Who was reuniting to tour again. After seeing that sad performance in the Superbowl, I think I will start to turn my LP's (yes the black CD's) to MP3 and listen to that instead. We are old, and the rockers that we loved as kids are even older. On the bright side todays Country music isn't so bad.

:confused: I like music that I can understand the words, not something that repeats the same 4 words for three minutes. I think you are getting old when you walk into a room, and once inside, don't remember what you came in for. If this happens to be the bathroom, you may need to seek help!! Jim S

What?! Do you mean to say you don't like Wrap...er, Wrapp....Rayapp....HippityHop, or whatever they call "IT"! Some of those ghetto stories are full of meaning, soulful tales of growin up alive. Just because these guys and gals were/are too smart to go to school, and just because they can't sing, it's not nice to be unrespectful. Why I consider some of this modern music to be right up there with.....Nixon, Benedict Arnold, Castro, Stalin!:bananen_smilies068::bananen_smilies104::bananen_smilies068:

I will soon be 70 guess where my musical tast lie? Can't even find a radio station that plays that music any more. Almost done converting our 78's to CD's

Thank God I grew up in the 60's! The music was just so....professional. I loved the 70's music too. This crap today, naaa. Even the new country music has not impressed me much.

Ummmm.... I'm 32 and I can't stand most of the crap my kids are listening to already. It's near-impossible to find a new band on the radio that's any good. It's not just you.

Well I listen to a public radio station that plays stuff from most bands you've never heard of. Nothing with the word rap in it either. Mainly just stuff like Old Crow Medicine Show, Adam Cohen, Paul Thorne, and Trampled by Turtles. All of it soothing to the ears. If you'd like to listen, they have a live stream

91.9 WFPK Radio Louisville It says listen live

LOL!! I remember the very day I realized I was old. I was in a elevator and the music was Kiss, "I was made for loving you" without the lyrics. I was kinda stunned

I'm 57, and I listen to it all! I figure if it's music, it's good! I listen to pop, rock, country, and contempory. I also like reggae, bluegrass, zouk, metal (hard!), and some hip-hop and rap. I like Hawaiian music, show tunes, classical, whatever. My family is all very musical, and they have widely varied interests. I like it all!

Have a nice day!

Scott.

Stuck in the 50s

Well, I loved the music of the 50s when I was a teenager and I still do. I don't have a lot now except country but I have listened to 50s/60s music all my life. Records/tapes/cd's. I do listen to some country that is later vintage but not a whole lot. Never could stand heavy metal and really don't like any music where they use super loud insturments to drown out super bad vocals. On the rare occasion when I do hear more modern music I can seldom make out more than a few words and that drives me nuts so I don't listen.

Oops! I guess I should have quoted that.

Well Said!

In my 60's now, mostly 50/60's music, some jazz and blues, Jimmy Buffett (a little every day). Keep the Internet radio playing in the shop all the time.

Did you know that candy and rap have a lot in common? Neither of them are any good until you throw away the wrapper.

I'm not old, but I've been around for a long time... Like Smitty, I grew up in the 40/50's... graduated from high school at the beginnings of the '60's...I'm also one of the most non-musical persons around... even my kid poked me in church, and in his 8 year old stage whisper said "Dad, Dad, don't sing - you sound terrible"....
I like the music where it sounds natural to the singer more or less the crooners... I'm still a fan of Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Hank Williams, Chet Atkins, Hank Snow, etc... or if I can find it, some of the older jazz musicians.....too many of these young "singers" (I put in quotes because most of the younger crowd really can't sing) all sound to me as if they are forcing the song... as for RAP I think it's missing the letter "C" on it's title, more just noise than anything else.... with today's music, I would rather just have the silence... unless my wife is riding with me, first thing I do after starting my engine is turn off the radio... I had one in the shop, but finally just put it away... would rather hear the sounds of my machinery running.
but I ain't old yet....:biggrin::biggrin:

You guys need to turn off the radio and turn on Pandora.com

You can find all sorts of amazing music that's new AND that you'll like on there.
I'm surprised every day when I turn it on.

Most of you guys are old enough to know that no generation likes the music of the previous generation. You might not like what's playing today, but its music to someone's ears. I liked RAP when it first came out, but it turned into something I didn't much care for, so I rarely listen to it now. But it's still music to an awful lot of folks and I'm not going to say it's not. It's just not my taste. I'll bet my retirement fund that 20 year's from now my daughter will not like the music her daughter will be listening to, and she'll be tuning into the oldies RAP station for relief.
