fossilized whale bone/mechanical scrimshaw

Had to try another one,I had some whale bone left over so having that
"the only thing you throw away is sawdust ( and only if you can make more of the same if needed ) " mentality I matched it with one of CD's scrimshaw
blanks using only the bottom tube. My wife ( a dear woman ) thought that it looks "more Yacht club gift shop that Merchant Sea Port but if you like it I'm sure someone will but it."
Which is wife speak for "nice try" Those of you married for any amount of time
(37 yrs here) understand what I mean, and my response, Thanks hon.

Do you suppose that most male disagreements are a result of translation ?

Whow!!!! I really like that scrimshaw work. You say "mechanical" what, where and do you have a web-site for that. My wife (bless her) likes the the picture and the pen. Of course we have been married 66 years last June 30 and we now agree on everything as long as she says we do. Is that scrimshaw done with India Ink on bone, or faux bone or what? Frank

I answer to the questions , the scrim is called mechanical as thats what it is, done with a laser, by Creative designs and sold through Classic nib.

Hi Frank Classicnib carries the artwork,it's laid over corian and I used transtint but india
is what is recommended Mechanical is a faux scrimshaw done with an engraver if I understand it correctly and is called mechanical because it can be duplicated with
a accuracy that can't be maintained by hand.

I have done a few of these for tattoo shop owners with their
"best" work on it. I work from their drawings. One owner is
tying in with a pen offer when someone gets a tattoo.. they can
also get a pen with the same image. Just started this, so I don't
know how well it will do yet.
