Just got to the new condo in southern CA and was able to put in sometime setting up shop. Quickly realized that I'll need to get a few things if I'm going to make the space I have work but im looking at it is as a great excuse to buy the necessary hardware to "organize," the garage :D. Just a question will the high California temperatures have an effect on the wood, ca, resin, and other items that im storing in the garage?

Yes to all, I don't keep pen kits in the garage refills will dry up.

the blanks should be fine if you have wet wood blanks they will dry too quick and warp or split.

I've never had any issues with my trustone or acrylic/pr (yet).

My garage can get to 100 plus, but during the hot months I run a fan and it helps.

If you don't mind me asking how does the heat effect the different items? Aside from using a fan is there anything else I should do to help preserve my blanks and tools?

Thanks again for the help. Btw what do you consider the hot months? Coming from new England this is pretty hot lol

Not being from California i dont know how hot it is or humid, but out here it gets easily 103 in the garage but i keep my CA, epoxy, and resin in the laundry room which maintains a temp of around 75. As far as your pen kits, you can leave them out in the garage but be sure to remove your ink cartridges and store them inside.

Being as paranoid as I am would a couple of days in the garage damage the resin ca and other finishes? Or does the damage come from prolonged exposure?

Well you got to the inland empire just about the right time to experiance our hot months, look at this week (triple digits).

July, August, and September (Early) are the hot months.

Your tools should be fine, I've never had anything hapen to any acrylic/pr blanks yet because of the heat. I also keep my CA and Cactus Juice in the fridge. I've not gotten into casting yet (too much on my plate) so I can't help with the resin storing.

I also have a couple of shop swamp coolers that I use when I'm working out there during the summer months; depending on heat I run one or both.

It's a dry heat you'll get used to it........

You can get the styrofoam insulation from the big box stores and attach to the top of your garage, if your's is like mine there's no insulation and most of the heat comes from the roof.

Again welcome to the IE.
