I'm shopping around for a good HDMI cable, and I come across this add for "Diamond HDMI Cable" It's got a good transfer rate, and it's only..............
$935.00 for ONE!!!

What a deal, then I'm thinking Hmmm Maybe if i get their customer list I can sell the customers $1,000.00 pens.......

They are expensive! I got mine from Wal Marts web site for about $16.00. Best I remember it's 20 or 25 ft long. It's cheap but it works!
And wouldn't we all like to get in on some of those $1000 pens!

I have an older 50" Samsung Plasma TV and the picture looks better with component inputs than HDMI. Also the HDMI input has another quirk on that TV....it will randomly lose sound and the only way to get the sound back is to cycle through the input list and when it gets back to the HDMI input the sound works again.

This only goes to show that some things are timeless. In the late 1800's P.T. Barnum is often credited for coining the phrase "There is a sucker born every minute". This is just as true today as it was over 100 years ago.

Now and then when Googling something, I will run across a website such as the one mentioned above where the prices are astronomically higher than anywhere else and often wonder how they actually sell anything then I am reminded of the above saying.

I got the cheapest I could find $6.00 I think and it/they work like a charm. My brother inlaw uses them also. I am no expert on audio video but I don't think HDMI cable are one of those things where you get what you pay for. I think the whole high end cable industry is a big scam and rip off. I would bet that you could see or hear no difference between the $3,000 cable and my $6.00 cable

that's correct from what I've read.

+1 on monoprice. Been buying A/V stuff there for years. As far as quality is concerned for cables there are some of the higher priced (i.e Monster) cables that would probably show better signal characteristics on an oscilloscope, but in my experience you would have a hard time actually hearing or seeing the difference from your A/V unit. Just my $.02 take on it.

I use the lesser expensive HDMI cables from Walmart too... when we first got the new TV - a 42" flat screen HD it came with RCA cables which I hooked up... first thing I noticed, in HD the mouths on the screens moved at a different rate than the audio... about drove us nuts until I bought the HDMI... now only occasionally does the sound get off from the picture...

After seeing this add for a $3,000 carbon fiber wrapped HDMI cable, I had to read the user reviews to see who would actually buy such a cable.

The reviews are absolutely side splittingly funny!

The only real issue I've ever seen with a $6 cable is that sometimes it's like watching a Godzilla movie, where the mouth movement and the dialog doesn't exactly line up. The $8 cable cures this, or perhaps another $6 cable would have fixed it.

Usually with HDMI cables they either work or don't work and I can really see much if any difference with the quality of the cable.

BUT, I must admit, IT WOULD BE FUN to have a 20 cable sealed in carbon fiber, just to say I had one:)

OK, the thing you have to remember is .... TV is now digital. This means it either works or it doesn't. Use the cheapest cables you can get and , if they work, you are good. This BS about a $500 cable HAS to be better than a $6 cable is... BS.
I personally use the $12 HDMI cable from WalMart and works perfectly. A $500 or $50 cable is not going to make the slightest difference, except to the contents of my wallet

What service do you have Danny? Direct TV just changed their format to get rid of the HDMI in our neck of the woods. I'll send you mine!
