Take a look at Grizzly too. Their 14" saw is probably within your budget.

+1!! G0555 is great! I bought a 6" riser block...I do platters and larger work to. Get my blades from out local saw shop for about $12...4tpi that tears up anything. Nice fence and easy to adjust and clean. Great saw!
Ditto. The G0555 with risers blocks is a great machine.

I didn't even think to look at grizzly. Will be on there site this evening. Thanks for all of the input so far

Life is too short to buy major power tools from Harbor Freight.

I'd spend the extra bucks for Grizzly or one of the other recommendations. I own a Powermatic, and it has served me very well. I am also impressed with the Rikon 14" for the money.

I have 2 lathes from harbor freight not to mention jacks and other things. O know theyvget a bad wrap on some tools bit most of the tools seem to be modeled after name brand of the same type. So i don't feel bad by getting it if it is whatvis in my budget.

I have the 14" Rikon too. and if you can hold off until you get the money sorted out. I am sure others are good too. but in the Wood Magazine test. It was the Best Buy. Not to mention it ranked #2 overall

I have a 14" Rikon band saw and it is great. Runs true and I have no problems with it.

Another plus for Grizzly. Some of their tools may be iffy, but this bandsaw is NOT one of them! I have it as well!

love mine!

I picked up my Delta 14" w/ 6" riser and carter rollers for $500 from Craigslist. I would be patient and watch CL for a while and one may come up superior to any new saw you can touch for $450 w/ add-on's.

I have only bought but 1 band saw. Last fall I bought the Grizzly as others mentioned above but it was the polar bear edition so I could bring some coolness to Louisiana :O)
So far I love it. I don't use it for anything other then pen stuff but it runs smooth and quiet.

I added the Woodslicer blade from Highland Woodworking. Runs true and cuts like champ.

I have that same blade. Actually, if I remember, I think I saw you reference it and bought it. Nothing but good things to say. It works great.

I think the Porter-Cable quality has gone down since they were bought out. Someone suggested the Grizzly which is a good idea. Might also look for a Rikon.

Wow I Sid not know there were so many grizzly fans out there. If i go with the one afor mentioned I will have to wait awhile. After adding the riser and freight it will be over seven. About 350 more. If i can figure out why this saw won't run true any more I could wait. If not I have to get something now. I guess it is time to put my tinkering hat on and see what the problem is with mine. So i can wait. Thanks for all the great input
