Well I finally broke down and got the MRI done last Friday. Insurance does cover I think 80% of it, but not sure if that's before my deductible kicks in. I am so tired of being in pain I caved and got it done in hopes it would answer some stuff. I just found out Wed that all the pain I am having is because I have two small herniated discs in my upper back and arthritis. So trying some things now to get the pain under control. I am only a couple days into it so trying to stay positive. I am trying to start exercising some to help with the discs and strengthen my back. On the good news side, I won an iPad2 at the Columbus Auto Show this weekend. Really enjoying it. Hope to get out in the shop this weekend and hope to keep the pain at bay. That is why I haven't been around much because I haven't had much to contribute. Hope everyone is doing ok.

Todd, hope you get to feeling better, there is nothing worse than your back not working the way it should. its weird how much you actually use it. Excercise is always good too, but that is my downfall, so im not preachin' but i have been told the same. So somewhere in there, there must be some truth! get better and take care of yourself, you only get one body

You mean I can't turn a new one? DANGIT! LOL.

I hope everything works out for you!

I unfortunately can relate. I was hit by a car almost 13 years ago and broke 3 bones in my lower back and sustained whip lash injuries. Not a day goes by that I don't have low back pain or pain in my neck and shoulders. I've had MRI's, CT's, Xrays and more doctors that I'd like and have never gotten a good answer from them.

Good luck on the herniated disc, I've been dealing whith L4-L5 and L5-S1 herniated for several years, along with the arthritis, the pain has been tough to deal with, and yes i excersize and all that other stuff, I had to stop riding and sell all my Harleys because of it .

Had to buy a specal bed so I can sleep with out pain.

Some days are OK others a PITA sort of speak . But I'm still able to do most of the stuff i like.

I hope you do good, and stay healthy, back pain is a bitch..

Good Luck

Knowing what the problem is can be half the battle. Now that you know it's a matter of taking the necessary actions to deal with it. The meds and exercises will probably help, and you'll probably want to explore ways of positioning yourself with your tools that might help you further.

Todd, I hope your pain situation improves. I have the same problems of a herniated disk and arthritis, and my wife has a sist on her spine above her hip and arthritis also. The pain is a real threat to the ability to get around and LIVE. I try to work through the pain if I can and I do take some pain medication. My posture at the lathe is sometimes governed by my back and arthritis in my knees. My wife is very limited in her ability to do many things. I hope the excercise helps and you are able to get back doing the things you want to do.

II suffer from the same issues so I am glad to hear that you are finally getting some pain relief. Congrats on winning the Ipad 2. I am looking at selling my IPad and getting a 2, mine always changes pages to something different without anyone touching the screen, makes it tough to stay online.
