Where do you buy your boxes?

A few years ago, a friend gave me a bundle of corrugated mailers and I finally used up the last one this morning and want to buy some more.

I started with 2 sites that both carry the 7x3x3 mailers but both heavily padded their shipping charges.

One thing I absolutely detest is spending 10 minutes on a website finding what I want THEN having to register or to fill out all my mailing info THEN find out at the LAST MINUTE that their shipping charge is ridiculous!

I'm guessing that several members ship a lot so to help keep my blood pressure down, would you mind sharing your sources for your boxes?

Uline---freight free, I pick them up. Quick trip to Waukegan---5 gals of gas, 1.5 hours (we place large orders, I take the trailer) Boxes (even folded flat and empty) are heavy. Packing peanuts are bulky---neither is conducive to "cheap" shipping.
 
Look in your area for box companies.
I buy bunch of my big boxes from a local box manufacture
going by your location did a quick search and maybe this will help

or go to the post office or online and get some free boxes from them.

Yes I realize they are free and I have dozens of them on hand but priority mail doesn't make sense for every situation so there is a need for mailing boxes.

Here's an example.......You're making widgets that are 2 1/2" square and 6" long that weighed 10.2 ounces.

Would you simply grab a MEDIUM flat rate box that will cost $11.35 to mail and slip the widget inside since it is too wide to fit into the narrow SMALL flat rate box costing $5.35 to mail?

Or would you grab a box measuring 7 x 3 x 3 that cost you 41 cents, slip the widget in, weigh it and pay the $3.14 first class postage and have it arrive just as fast or faster than priority mail?

You might say, what the heck, I'll just pay the extra few dollars and be done with it but what if you are shipping dozens of these things, then what, a couple dollars times 36 is $72, and for that I would buy my boxes.

Two points about your statement above, that I agreement with almost entirely.

Point one: I even look at the extra charge for proof of delivery before deciding to send first class with proof of delivery or Flat Rate Priority ( which includes proof of deliver and a free box). Many times after adding the proof of delivery fee and cost of a box or envelope, it is as cheap to ship a small flat rate box. I look at this comparison each time a shipment goes out. My "widgets" are rather pricey and without proof of delivery I will (and have) lost every payment dispute over delivery, if I can't prove it was delivered.

Point 2:
If you are paying $5.35 for small flat rate and $11.35 for a medium, you need to go back to USPS.com and set your account up as a commercial account. Those rates (just went up) are $5.15 and $10.85, respectively.

As you can see, I'm a tightwad and HATE overpaying for postage.
