I placed an "wanted: Antlers" ad on a local bookoo site and got a couple responses.
I called the guy on Monday evening and set up a meeting on Tuesday at about 5:30 at his house. He sent email on Tuesday saying he forgot he had Bible Study on Tuesday at 5:30 so we rescheduled for Wednesday (today) at about 5:30. I call him and say I can be there in 15 minutes, he replies that he forgot about me and they were leaving to go eat and can we meet at 6:30? I agreed but then kicked myself for doing it cuz the antlers were on the way to my mother in laws where my baby was and I didn't want to leave the baby there or take the baby with me (she's 3).
I backed out of the meeting tonight when he called me at 6 to say I could come then since he was done eating. So I still don't any antlers.
So I ask you, have you ever encountered something similar and was I expecting too much? I mean, the guy FORGOT about the meeting but then couldn't wait 15 MINUTES for me?
If I forget something I try not to inconvenience the other party further but try to make it up to them. Am I wrong to hope that others do the same.
Thanks for letting me vent a little bit.

Do not bother with that seller.
Continue to place ads. There is allot of antler out there. My deal is to offer a free pen out of any FOUR successful antlers. I paid a guy twenty pens one time because of that offer and I still have antler enough for sixty pens.
I get upset just reading about what this seller is doing to you. Dirty Rotten No Good Bushwhacker.

I'd be irritated, too -- probably because at my age I just have no time for with rude/inconsiderate people. Maybe you should schedule an appointment and do a "no show".

Vindictively yours,

Take a deep breath or two. They're only antlers and the world will not end because you need to take another day or two to get them. (Trust me on this.)

Let's see...South Carolina. If I recall correctly(about SC) you live in prime white tail territory. Know anyone who hunts? Coworker? Relative? I make several antler pens each year and have for several years and I've never purchased antler. Ask around and offer a nice slimline pens for a rack.
Do a good turn daily!

I know season is over, Here in Alabama, i put the same ad in last year, a taxadermist called ma and had about 20 pairs, we met and i gave him some antler pen and bullet pen, he said he did not know i could use bigger ones, he wanted 10 bullet pens for opening of deer season and would send me the big horns, he wont answer, call or nothing , found out how much you can sell them on ebay i think,I killed my deer this year and had already talked to the processer about keeping the horns people dont want off there deer, talk to a processor , they called me twice when they had 5-10 gallons, i keep them in what ever pen they need, they cant be turned yet the marrow isnt dried its bloody, but i got enough to last a few years, keep putting adds on craigs list thats where i get replys

Good advice. It had crossed my mind that maybe the guy was testing me to see if he could put me off and control the meeting time then he'd figure I would let him control the $ negotiating too.
Maybe that's my own paranoia. :hypnotized:

find a local hunting forum and join up...then you can swap all you want

Hunters love them and I give them away often because they keep me well stocked. After a while, making antler pens gets old LOL Just another material and time to move on to something new. Save and hold on to the nice big racks, they are very nice on special pens. Keep your tips and cut offs to toss in some colored resin, makes a interesting effect as well.
