 Let me start with last Sunday was my youngest granddaughters birthday. She turned 2.
She is my son-in -laws, parents only grandchild. I have 7 grandchildren.

For her birthday they bought her among other things a Mercedes battery operated toy SUV car.

My wife bought her a couple of cute dresses and tops..

I took one of the Holiday popcorn gift canisters, the metal ones with the nice snowy cabin scenery on it, and I attached a red ribbon with a bow on it long enough to put over her shoulder. Then I took it and a wooden spoon and put it in a pretty birthday gift bag.

When it came time to open the presents and they finally got to mine My daughter looked at it, looked at me, and gave me that "I could kill you" look.
:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

The party progressed and finally broke up with everybody fed like they do. We said our goodbyes and headed home. We had been home about 15 minutes when the phone rings. My wife answered it and goes "Yes He's here" its your daughter.

All you hear in the back ground is BANG BANG BANG. DAD! she hasn't stopped beating on that d**n thing for the last 20 minutes. Of all the toys she got thats the only one she will play with.

Oh I am in the dog house now.....heheheh

Kids really prefer toys that allow them to use their imagination. My brother gave my oldest daughter a drum skin on a little stand with 2 drum sticks for her 1st birthday. She banged on it for months on end and I understand how your daughter feels. She also loved hitting pans with a wooden spoon. Great gift. LOL

Kids are God's punishment for having sex.....

Grandkids are God's gift for letting them live.....

Isn't it grand to give the kids back some of what they gave us.

I need to move to Florida. I think we could get each other into so much trouble.

Revenge is sweet. We gave my oldest grandson and his twin brother and sister a drum set a Guitar and keyboard for Christmas one year. The twins were 3 and justin was 4 1/2. Loved the look on my DIL's face it was worth the cost.

For the next gift, strongly consider a fridge or stove box. Wonderful gifts that allow the imagination to run wild. You done great! Keep it up. As long as the daughter is yours and she still yells DAD!!!! you're doing just great.

Mike,
Way to go. Our refidgerator took a dump a few years back and we let the kids use it as a fort. I cut windows and doors in it so they could lock up the dog in it. I think we had that sitting in the livingroom for about 6 months till my wife (and dog) could'nt take it anymore.

Isn't being a grandparent great!
Glad to hear that the drum was her best present!
Personally, I would have put a set of air horns on that battery powered car!

Paybacks are a B****! Next time, pour soda water on the carpet, spill food on the floor, turn the music up real loud, etc.

Momma's curse always works, "One of these days, ONE OF THESE DAYS your son/daughter will do this to you!" Never fails. Isn't it wonderful!!
