I've been wondering this for a while now ...

If you have a single carry pen, how do you bring it with you (case, pouch, pocket, etc.)?

Also, if you are to bring 20+ display pens around to show people how do you bring them with you?

I bought a 24 pen porfolio which worked for a week until half the straps that hold the pens broke. I want to replace it with something and am searching for ideas.

Thanks,
Andrew

I've got the penvelope 13 for showing work samples. I also carry a business planner that has 2 nice pen holders everywhere I go. One pen is my daily writer FP and the other rotates with inventory based on where I'm going that day.

My carry pens are in my pocket or clipped nib up in my backpack.

That is classy Jon. Expensive but very classy. Will this case accommodate the larger pens?

What is the inside of those penvelopes made from? Is it a felt or some sort of flocking, or some other material.

I have a zippered case which carries about 48 pens using a stretch strap for each pen.
I also built a wood box with a plexiglass cover for some of the better pens; it holds about 12 pens.

My scrubs have a pen pocket on the sleeve. Using my pens at work allows doc's to hold and write, briefly!, with one. Sold 5 last week so it is a good marketing tool. Only problem is getting requests like casting fossils or stones in a blank...really?

I carry two in pocket, primed and ready for signing fuel reciepts and initiating conversation. Also a 24 pen case that I'll bring out when sufficient interest is shown.

I do word of mouth only. sold two this past weekend to rental car agent after signing car reciept with my personal buckeye burl pen.

I carry my pen and pencil set in my shirt pocket at work (business casual). I also carry this in my backpack with the pens and other items I sell for when people ask me. Have carried it for about 3 months with no issues.

I carry mine with my hopes and dreams.

...nothing?

ok. i use the zipper portfolio from Woodcraft. I have 2 at my desk at work and I usually keep one or two on me at all times.

I bought a 30 pc. display that looks like a mini brief case and I picked up a Kuba- Delucxe cigar box with 2" window in the lid. I use it for my cigar pens. I have cigar case that looks like a eyeglass case with a spring loaded lid. It has dividers in it to keep the pens from touching each other. I use 1/4 " foam in all my cases to keep them from rattling.

here's how I roll.

Word of mouth is the only way to go Butch...IMHO of course!! After that, it's to much like work, and I work to do this! Like you, I have a 24 pen case from CSUSA so if someone wants a better look, have at it! 2 boxes of cards from Vista print...lock and load!

Thanks for everyone's responses so far. I also found this one on the webpage Jon posted. Franklin-Christoph Boot Leather Zippered Pen Cases

All those on that website look very high end and am considering getting one. For $75 (shipped for the 20 one). that's only $3.75 per pen. Even filled with slimlines and wood blanks you'll have spent more on pens then the case. And it'll look very professional.

Keep the info coming.

Thanks,
Andrew

Pen Cases

Andrew: I have the 48 pen display cases sold by PSI and others. They have a black leather like exterior with grey felt grooves inside, brass latches & hinges, and elastic straps to hold the pens in place. I put the pens in every other slot making them easier to remove and better looking by not over filling the case. The closed case keeps the dust off the pens, and is ready for display just by opening the case. When I go to shows I can easly fit 8-10 cases in my gym bag plus supplies. 10 cases will hold from 200-400 Pens. Hope this helps you. Jim S

I carry mine in my shirt pocket (security uniform). I don;t have a lot of "extra pens". I usually make them and give them away or wait till I have an order to make one.

I keep a half a dozen with me in this Franklin-Christoph Fine Leather Penvelope Six very nice quality. They also make a 13 pen case Franklin-Christoph Lucky 13 Penvelope, same style, just bigger.

I hope to get some of the Penvelopes one of these days when I can put them in the budget. Until then I've been using soft cases but have started converting to hard cases like this.
32 Pen Display Case with Lid: Wider Pens at Penn State Industries

In my case, the strapes haven't broken in the soft cases, but some of them have left some impressions in the sides of a couple pens, so I want to get my larger acrylic pens out of them.

The little band in the hard cases are much easier on the acrylic and shows off the pens better. I do recommend a piece of thick foam in the middle when you close them up though, just to help hold them in place and ensure the top ones don't bump into the lower ones if you bump something to aggressively.

I carry one of these with 3 pens BY ASTON sometimes
