This just blows my mind!

Two weeks ago our son told us he's getting married. His son (Dawson) met the girl and her 2 year old daughter (Ansley) while he was in Ohio with his dad in January. My husband and I have been very careful not to say anything to Dawson about the marriage. We wanted his dad to be the one to tell him.

Yesterday morning, my daughter had gotten out a game to play with Dawson that she and her brothers played when they were younger. During breakfast, my daughter was talking about playing the game. The following is part of the conversation:

Daughter: "Dawson, you need a sister to play 'Bop It' with."
Me: "Maybe he'll get one someday."
Dawson: "Ya, it'll be Ansley cuz when my dad marries Kim."
Me: "Did your dad tell you that."
Dawson (giving me an odd look): "Yes"

Later, when my son called, I asked him if he had told Dawson they were getting married. He said he had not because he wasn't ready for his ex to know yet.

Dawson is 4 years old! HOW DID HE KNOW!

Yes, they are! We would do well to listen to them more! I guess that's grandparent wisdom, also known as hind-sight.

That and society hasn't "molded them" to our idea of what is possible. I honestly think little ones have the instinicts, what some have called pyschic abilities, that all living things share. Humans have just "reasoned" ourselfs out of our natural gift. I dont mean "ogie boogie presto I am talking with dear departed Aunt Beatrice" I mean a deeper perseption of the living things in our enviroment and the emotions they are going through........A caribou can tell weather or not you have a weapon even if you are stalking it. I dont know how but all animals seem to have the ability to read you on a deep level, even know you are there without seeing, hearing or smelling you. Kids still have that.

They probably spoke about it within earshot of him. Kids hear EVERYTHING and have shockingly good recall.
