I know this has been brought up before but don't remember what was said.
Ya I'm old. :biggrin:

I just got this email:

My name is Mark Peters,I want to place an order in your store,I will like to know if you ship to Philippines.Do you have credit card facility?Get back to me with your website.I will await your prompt response .

I'm thinking scam. If not would PayPal be safe?

Any thoughts?

I would ignore it for 1 reason alone:

"Get back to me with your website."

If they don't know what your website is, and what they are interested in - then HIGH chance its a scam.

Scam id bet. Ask for a phone number and see if you get a reply. I've had similar emails where they ask about the same, but never specifically say what they want to buy....that's always a tip off.

My usual rule is that if I have even a suspicion of scam or dishonesty, I just don't pursue it. I'd rather risk losing the occasional sale than take the risk of getting scammed.

Very likely a scam. He's not asking you details about a pen or a purchase, he just wants to know how your business is set up.
 
This absolutely a SCAM! All they are trying to dois get soomeone to send merchandise to avoid duty and paying for it. Report it to your local law enforcement people.

After the first 500 or so, you get to where you recognize and discard these without opening. I used to block the senders but don't bother anymore because they use phoney "from" email addresses and you'll still get the next one. A favorite trick now is to use a from address that is someone you know.

You should not even reply. It could be phishing and then you replying or sometimes even opening gives them access to your computer and they can install software that can steal your information. I do not open any email from anyone I don't know. I immediately delete it.
