Proxxon?

I'm thinking of investing in a Proxxon. Either the FET table saw or the bandsaw. I currently use a full size Jet bandsaw and occasionally, a 7 1/4" chop saw but I'd like to get something small for my workbench and the Proxxon table saw looks just the ticket.

Anyone have any experience with them?

Another one you might want to take a look at is the Byrne's Model Machines. They get vary high reviews,
 
I have the Byrne table saw and love it. It is actually fairly powerful for having such a small motor (it cuts through Tru-Stone like it was soft wood) and make very precise cuts a breeze. If I could make two changes to this saw, it would be to have a tilt table and to allow a deeper cut than the current 7/8ths of an inch. This saw is not cheap, but it's sure not a toy either. High quality product!

I have the older Proxxon FKS/E and have been reasonably pleased with it. Both the FET and Byrne appear more sturdy and have a better fence. My guess is that you'd be happy with either one.

I have the new Rockwell saw... it's pretty hand for some things... cuts circles nicely and will do angles... but in reality it's a sabre saw turned upside down and mounted on a table.:rolleyes:.. I did use it the other day to cut off the 1 inch steel tool rest post on my new Woodcut bowl coring tool so it would fit my Jet 1442.... worked out fine 'til I let the piece of steel slip and broke the blade.:mad:.. only had a few strokes with a hacksaw to complete the cut. :smile:

Over all, I like the saw and will get more use out of it later this spring when I start a couple of segment projects.
 
I've used an older Proxxon table saw for awhile (not mine, just borrowed). Frankly, for the few dollars difference, I'd pop for the Byrne table saw. Much smoother, MUCH more power and the new tilt table looks very inviting.
