Remember the good ole days when you were bombarded with calendars of every size and shape? We had so many we didn't know where to put all of them. Some wound up in drawers and we didn't pull them out until the next year!

What happened, the only 2012 calendar I have in the house right now is a wallet size plastic calendar my bank sent me.

Are calendars just one more thing gone by the wayside as unnecessary expendatures by companies or did I just fall out of the loop?

I think I'll call my insurance company, auto dealership, bank, parts warehouses and protest!

They are alive and well in the construction industry... still receive them from several of our suppliers, usually the wall hanging monsters with room to write on each day (perfect for a construction trailer!). Still get "landscapes of America" or similar from our bank and insurance agency.

I think as we retirees fall out of the business communities, we stop being relevant to the people who distribute callendars... like Texatdurango... when I was working I had more calendars than I could get rid of... now if I want one I have to buy it.

George being in the Automotive Industry I got about 27 this year. Most of them have half naked women on them and the others are tools. I'll mail you some if you'd like.

I have been getting one since 2003 when I started this business. While I do use a mac, iTouch I use the calendar for everyday appointments, milestones. I love the calendar as it keeps me in touch with my past and I enjoy the Norman Rockwell pictures each year.

I think George is right on this one. Yes in some industries it is still alive and well, but the old average customer is left out now days. It is kind of funny but years ago the calendars were almost a nuisance, today some of us do miss them. We buy one every year for the shop. (It is almost always a doberman calendar) We have a UPS calendar above the shipping computer and use it to write notes such as import times. We have one in the main office that comes from a company we have done business with for years and it is always a beautiful scenery calendar. In all of these locations there are computers, but it is always easier and habit to look over at the calendar that is hanging on the wall. I do not miss or need the old easel calendars that usually came from the insurance companies.

We had a single box of about 100 that we gave out this year from our store, usually we have about 200 to give out (and never have any left over), but the "VP of public relations" (the company presidents idiot daughter) didn't order enough for the other stores in the complex, but the main one had more than enough..

As for me, I order from other vendors and I have about a dozen calenders from them in my desk at work

My sister made a really nice one for my mom - who is obsessed with cows and usually gets a cow calender. She grew up on a farm...

Well - instead of cows, there's a bunch of pictures collaged together for each month. My birthday is in October so October is a bunch of pictures of me. Each month is somebody different. It's pretty cool.

She made it and printed it, and spiral bound it at Walgreens. Wasn't too expensive and looks REALLY nice.

I got one from the SWMBO favorite Chinese buffet restaurant. It is a bamboo slat type... in 12 months it will be prepped for a pen.

THAT reminds me.......... the last calendar I got last year was from the little Chinese food place down the street and it too was printed on these little bamboo slats. Time to go eat some Chinese food or maybe drop by the local auto parts store to see if they have a pile at the end of the counter!
