My wife was supposed to work till six today but the lady told her she could leave an hour early and I thank the Lord she did. Wife call and said it smelt like something was burning and the floor felt hot. I told her to look under the house when she did she seen a ball of fire. Well long story short it was put out in a very short time with no damage to the house. I think it was some old wiring. So we r sleeping at a friends tonight and Electrian will be out in the morn. Thank the lord for watching over our house

Chris, Glad you and your sweet family are ok. God does look out for us in ways we do not fully understand.

Thank the Lord she found it in time. We had a house fire 20 years ago. over $70k in rebuilding and out of the house for 10 weeks. It is not only stressful but a lot of work. We put in a "Cadillac" fire monitor system but even today when I smell smoke, I go checking. Just bought a new fire extinguisher for the shop today.

Saying a prayer of thanks for you right now

I JUST got through changing a dying electric socket (big deal, I HATE working on electric) because a neighbor had a house fire from a plug in the same spot having the same problems we were having.

Does sound like you have an Angel on your shoulders! Thanksgiving may have already passed - but I would say you received an early Christmas present! Happy to hear you are all ok, save and spared the trauma of a more serious fire.

Old wiring blues

I'm glad you're ok and the house is still standing.

We lived in a house for 32 years and rewired most of it but there was still a fire about 2 or 3 years after we left caused by some wiring that we couldn't change because we couldn't get the old wiring out. and couldn't find where it was connected on one end. We put in new wiring to a light but had to leave the old wires hot, we taped the ends but it was so lold and dry that the insulation must have broken down and it arced through..didn't burn the house down but did quite a lot of damage.

I think whoever did the original wiring put a junction box inside a wall - big no-no by the time I was looking for it but was probably done in the 30's or 40's when the wiring was put in.

Isaiah 41:10, Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; Yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Wow. Must be the night for electric drama. Angels are looking over you folks. We had a base board heater go out on us today. When I lifted it a hair on accident shifting my weight it arced, smoked and I RAN for the breaker. Base board is no longer connected to any power and wire ends are capped.
