Okay, so I've been sitting around looking at the Library and I came across a video tutorial on inserting brass embelishments into the ends of a close ended pen. I figured this might be something cool to try however the Arizona site mentioned in the tutorial hasn't carried them for close to two years and they don't know of any other vendors out there who might carry them.

They were called "Gizmo" and here's the link: http://www.arizonasilhouetteinc.com...4c415847229f276d56d8b011820a072&keyword=Gizmo

Anyone know where I could find something like this? I tried Michaels today and nothing even close.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link, they look like an option. I did however find what I was looking for by looking into custom knives. Looks like they carry what I'm looking for, but there are other issues to deal with when buying stuff made for other items. I'll just have to see what can be done.

Thanks for the Kudos as well! It drives me to try ideas with different materials.

Try searching for mosaic pins at a knife making supplier.

Yep..mosaic pins from knife suppliers are really nice. Those ones at arizona are expensive, but so are the mosaic pins! You can make your own too, just need the metal tube and the rods and then you stick the rods in the tube and heat it up and pour solder or liquid silver inbetween. No matter how you do it, it's not cheap.

Thanks guys, I found it pretty much after I posted it. Doing a search for the correct thing really helps, ha ha ha. After looking at the stuff on those sites I think I want to try my hand at knife making as well. Not the blades mind you, but a go at the kits and see what can be done. Ahhhh, one day!

Too many people doing it right for me to venture into that arena. As much as I like it I think I would miss the shine and look of a high end kit. Plus I imagine I would miss the weight of the pens if I went kitless as well. Sticking with segmenting and scallops for now:biggrin:

Actually, I was refering to doing a kitless knife. I've considered doing one of those knife kits too. Just another use for cool looking wood.

To heat, shape, and cut the raw material would be a bit too much for me to take on in my garage:smile: I like the idea of some of the kits to start out then as time allows move into the more difficult stuff. Some of those kits look really sweet though. I'm not really into weapons, but the idea of something like a Damascus steel knife with custom scales would be pretty slick. I'll have to do some research and see if I can find some books and DVD's to wrap my head around it first.

I can cut up to 12" in length on the CNC..make a pretty wicked knife blade I bet! We could even score some blood troughs in it, haha! Perhaps a little engraving like a head getting sliced off "Respectfully Tim" it says in the pool of blood...ah the imagination never ends.

That would be awesome! I work in a joint environment where Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines work together and the Navy guys are always giving me crap for branching over from Air Force to Army...so a "Go ARMY beat Navy" knife would be AWESOME, ha ha ha! Sticking it to them:biggrin: Something to think about for sure...you've done some amazing stuff on your machine so I bet any idea would come out solid!
