Well I had the DOH moment of the week. I meant to bring in my DD214 today, a couple of the vets are going to lunch (my idea) at Hooters. Well I forgot my DD 214. Ahh well looks like I am paying for my lunch.

That is why I have Joined the American Legion. I show my membership card and no need to have a spare DD214.

I don't know where I saw it, but somewhere I saw where you could get the dd214 reduced to a wallet sized card that you could keep on your person... also if they are still doing it, I've heard that LOWES has a discount program for vets if you show either the red id card or the dd214.

I am not retired, got out after my back was screwed up (twisted spine). They took my rank because I could not go to school for being on profile, some reason they were surprised when I did not reinlist. I was a reservist for 8 years, got involuntarily exteneded and had my rank pulled.

Most Veterans do not have a military ID because we are not retired military....we served and got out. After leaving active duty, I had a military ID for only 2 years while I was a reserve.
