Took me forever to get the CA glue thick enough so I didn't get bald spots and then get both the cap and base the same thickness, but after four months of off and on work, I got it done this afternoon when the customer announced he'd be swinging by to smoke a cigar with me.
The guy who commissioned this is a 3rd generation Shell employee and I found this vintage pre-embargo Cuban band on eBay when Shell had a cigar manufacturer down there crank out some smokes for them to give away to clients and deserving employees.
The customer had a choice of having a dull finish that would better mimic a real cigar, but asked for the high shine. This pen must have 10 coats of very thickly applied thick CA glue on it. Looks wet in the hand. The wood is walnut burl.
