So glad I walked down to the river for these! I personally really dig the way the water reflects the lights.

Those would make great desktop wallpaper if they were higher res! Just tried it with the first one and it lost all the detail......BUMMER!!!!

Great looking pictures!

Thanks Rick. Those lights are beautiful. I see a silhouette of a horse in purple in the last pic, or is it my wishful thinking?

Definitely fantastic pictures. I kept one of the purple hued ones as wallpaper. Very nice. Thanks for waking up early.....

Thanks everyone I am really glad you enjoyed the pics! Sorry Woodluvr, we dont own a horse but the lights are like cloud gazing folks see all kinds of cool outlines in them.

The family and I are headed up the mountain for a hike/small game hunt, you folks enjoy your day no matter what it is you have going on.

For those of us who never get to see them, these pictures really captured the natural beauty. Does this happen every night? What a light show!

Thanks for posting these photos. I too would like to see more when you get the chance.

amazing. I agree with Russianwolf, about adding another reason to the list. Also just goes to prove that when the Sun is coming up, time to get up and see what wonders await..

Fantastic shots! Thanks for letting us all have a look see.

My wife and I went to Fairbanks in Feb of 2006 just to catch the Northern Lights. We were there for six nights and had great shows four of them. I couldn't catch them with a camera nearly as well as you have.

Not every night in fact last year they were strangely missing from our skies. The lights are triggered by sun spot activity and reach a peak every 11 years during the suns magnetic inversion.....this is the peak year! I expect to get lots of northern lights shots this winter. My son and I are thinking of spending all of Lynx trapping season in the bush living out of a wall tent, should be some awesome views several miles from any form of civilization in the mountain pass we like to trap. At the least we will be doing a lot more winter camping this year, thus increasing our chances of noticing that the lights were out. This display would have lit up the inside of the tent like a Pink Floyd concert!

Several rerquests for this one so.....testing. Let me know if this suits your needs folks who requested it. PS started to rain and we have guests on the way from Anchorage..........been weeks since anyone bothered to do the trip in to our place.
