I got called into the managers office a few minutes ago, and I am going to Hawaii for about 3 months. Aparently between then and now they had a meeting where it was told I am the one from planning that is going.

I have been to Ketchikan AK, so I figure I need to see the other state. The way it looks I will be leaving Monday 9-12, until the end of the year.

I mess with my wife all the time say Oh I am going here or there, she doesn't believe me. LOL, wonders who will bring me to the airport.

My wife would be ticked... She'd want to go with!

We have small children, so I would never be able to take a temporary relocation. However, back in the day I would have loved it, assuming that I could afford to fly my wife back and forth at her whim.

UPDATE:

At 3:40 my boss was telling me where to go and what to check out....
At 3:50 my boss got a call saying I was on hold, but be ready to go....

I only get KOA for Fred and Jim :p

Wonder if they will let me carry my chain saw as a carry on....

Tough job...but somebody has to do it. I traveled a bit and my wife always thought the trips were vacations - until I took her on one and she was on her own 12 hours a day while I was working. She didn't ask to go again.

Guess I'll have to step up and take your place. I like Hawaii especially if I get to stay till New year and miss a few months of winter. I like hearing them whine, burrrr its 70 outside today!

I will do your job during the day and spend rest my time fishing.

Can you put a chainsaw in carry on luggage? There is some really pretty wood over there!

Ed,

Sounds great to me our third daughter went to BYU Hawaii Campus in the 70,s, married there wife and me attended her wedding there and toured enjoying our stay. This was BP (before pens) we both have lovely memories of the mountains and scenery.

Enjoy, Kind regards Peter.

Back when I worked for TWA I made a couple of trips to Hawaii.....
Honolulu is just a big city in the tropics... traffic is terrible... weather is great. Actually tried to transfer to HNL when TWA opened up the Pacific routes in the early '70's.... I didn't have enough seniority to get the transfer.

I liked the Kona coast though... problem is that I went with the first wife and she didn't want to travel and explore... just lay around the hotel and the beach for 10 days...
same when we went to Jamaica on the honeymoon... it took two days to talk her into taking a drive around and seeing some of the island.... then because Jamaica drives on the other side of the road, she was terrified the whole time out and didn't enjoy a single bit of the sight seeing.

My boss feels that in about 3 weeks they will be calling for me to go down there. Just waiting to see.

I just have a feeling it is not going to happen.

Well at the airport in Atlanta has a collection of things you cannot have with you as carry on. Chain Saw, Weed Eater and leaf blower are among them.
