Could someone tell me the name of the ebay seller that sells the Collet Chuck sets?
He does carry (at least he used to) the morse taper mounted holders, in your case the mt2. He has dozens if not hundreds of auctions going at the same time, some have just collets, some have collets with chucks, you just have to look at all the auctions he's got then bid on the ones you want since I couldn't see any where he has any "buy it now" prices. Don't even think about emailing him with a question........you'll never hear from him, I don't think he likes email ....i was looking thru his auction and I didn't see a collet holder. Does he normally carry them or do you but that from someone else?
I purchased a Beall collect chuck from Lee Valley or it can be ordered directly from Beall
http://www.bealltool.com/products/turning/colletchuck.php. I then purchased the metric set of collets from 800watt on ebay. With the metric set gives you have full coverage vs. the imperial set that has a couple of gaps.

.........But he shouldn't be looking for a Morse taper#2 collet chuck, ... what he needs is a 1x8 threaded collet like the Beal or PSI/CSUSA. I know George wouldn't recommend the #2MT holders ... I think he misunderstood what your lathe would accept.![]()

Lenny, Never second guess me, I'll surprise you everytime! No I didn't misunderstand him and here is why I said what I said....
I doubt you will find a threaded holder such as the Beall holder on Ebay. All I have ever seen are the mt mounted holders, if he can find a 1x8 threaded holder, great, get it IF it's reasonable.
I want to toss a wet rag on this myth about the mt mounted holders not being as good as the threaded holders sice the threaded holders can hold a longer rod. That's only half true!
Both my mt-2 and mt-3 holders are threaded on the ends so a draw bar can be used although I have never used draw bars and they work just fine in the headstock. With both of these holders I am limited to 2" of stock clamped inside the holder.
With the Beall 1x8 threaded holder I also get 2" of clamping capacity since any blank larger than .675 will hit my spindle shaft and go no further!
I would say 80% of the time I have a blank in the holder that is larger than .675 so the holding capacity is IDENTICAL on all three holders!
For the times I have a smaller diameter blank inserted, 2" in is all I have ever needed so to me this whole idea of "holding longer blanks" is a mute point. Sounds good on paper but in reality, not an issue at all.
Didn't consider this didya?
