Got this yesterday http://www.harborfreight.com/25-liter-ultrasonic-cleaner-95563.html. Saved up and waited patiently on coupons. $49 yea hah.
Not sure what I am doing wrong but I am getting more air bubbles using this than heating my pours in microwaved water and then sitting on band-saw. The bubbles come to the top and sit there. If you are OK with it can someone give me some pointers on how many sets (cycles) you are using. Using Silmar 41.:at-wits-end:

Hot tap water in cleaner. Uncatalyzed resin in container placed into the water. Place weight on top of container if needed. Turn on heater and run for a couple of cycles. Some do one, others more. Remove container from water, add catalyst and pour.

Now, where did you get the coupon...I can only find 20% off which only gets the price down to $60.

Thanks and good luck.
Do a good turn daily!

This time of year, I use 3-480 second cycles. One cycle with heat. The next two cycles without heat.

After pouring the molds, I sit the on an old vibrating electric football game for 10 minutes.

This works well for us. Current weather conditions: 100 plus degrees daily. 80 percent plus, daily. YMMV.

Wow, now thats going back, way back! LOL I used to have one of those as a kid.

You know, we all have different ways that work, so depending on your method of casting(pressure, no pressure, vaccum, no vaccum, etc) you should try several different ways and take notes and go with the best that works for you!

For me,I buy graduated mixing cups from Solo cup company(recycle code1). My pours are small quantity also, from 1- 4 ounces at at time. This is why i think everyones methods are different from others. Then I only add 3 drops of MEKP per ounce (from 1-2 ounces, and I add an extra drop for anything over 3 ounces) Garage temp is anywhere from 100-108 with humidity around 0%. I run one cycle in the Ultrasonic cleaner(but i put scalding hot water in first so that my temp is already around 150), once i add catalyst, i mix for no longer than 30 seconds(and i do time it:biggrin:). At this point, my working time is usually less than 5 minutes before it begins to gel(this working time can also vary depending on how old your resin is, newer=longer working time, older=shorter working time), then the molds go in the toaster oven for a couple of 150degree 10min. cycles and post curing in the sun if needed after that.

You can't believe how many flea markets and antique shops I've searched since seeing that vibrating football game in your shop. Hen's teeth are easier to find. If the shop attendant is under 50, they just look at me like I'm "touched" as I try to explain what I'm looking for. About the time I get finished explaining why I'm searching for one, they've already dialed 911.

E Bay has them. Lots of them. You can get one missing some of the players for real cheap. But them, you can play football while your blanks are curing:)
