As many others before me, I bought an 18-piece set of ER32 collets from 800watt on eBay. My problem was now how to store them. Well, I found a solution at Kmart last night. I bought a 24-compartment utility box that is just the PERFECT size! The height is JUST a hair shorter than the collets, but that keeps them from bouncing around. I'm able to store them standing on end so I can read the markings without having to take them out. And since they each have their own compartment, I don't have to worry about them dinging each other. And I still have six more compartments for more collets. What a deal for about five bucks! For those who might be interested in getting one, here are the specifics:

Manufacturer: South-Bend
Desc: Explorer Series utility box
P/N: UB-18
UPC: 039364221110

I didn'tget mine at K-Mart, but I have basically the same thing. It works great. I keep mine in the boxes they came in. Makes it a little easier to see the one I want.

so the only way to use these would be to purchase the morse taper collet instead of using the psi screw on collet chuck.

Does anyone have problems with the morse taper chuck slipping? I would think you could get some slip

ER32 collets will work in the PSI collet chuck system...the PSI collets are ER32.

Personally, I would not use any 2MT tool without tailstock support or a drawbar.

Do a good turn daily!

I tried the MT type with a draw bar (Woodriver) and took it back. I bought the 800WATT set and the Beall Collet Chuck. Beautiful set up.

Just to be clear, the collet set Roger mentioned works in the PSI, CSUSA, and Beal collet chucks or any chucks that use the ER32 collets.
A morse taper collet would be very limited in what it can do and a poor choice. The screw on type IS what you want!

One other drawback to the Morse taper collet is the limited depth of the collet. The screw-on variety allows you to insert the work piece further into the spindle.

Thanks for all the help in answering my questions.

I did see the drawback of not being able to slide a blank through the morse taper.

I have been eyeing the psi collet chuck for a while and the 800 one as just more collet choices.

Again thanks for your help

Check Amazon.com for the chuck. You can get the PSI chuck there cheaper and quite often with free shipping.
