Hi guys, I just wanted to stop in and say hi. Im a new turner that stumbled onto this site. Ive lurked for a few weeks, and learned alot already here. Im learning this hobby (obsession) on my own, and will have several newbie questions in the near future. Until then i'll keep looking through the classified section and wipeout my savings. Ive made a few pen up to this point thats turned out fairly decent. I will post pics when I can take some good ones.

Thanks for the invite, we are probably a little too far apart to get into anything good. Never know though. I live in Munford.

(for you outsiders, we all know that there are three Tn States, West TN, Middle TN, and East TN.)
 
Welcome SlickyInc, from far west Kentucky, to the addiction, sometimes referred to as the vortex. You mention that you have observed some of the site, be sure to give the library a good bit of time. The link is at the top of the page. You will find an article called Library Index. This covers tutorials on about anything pen making you can think of. You will also notice that there are articles listed by year. Much good info there as well. When these fail to answer your questions, by all means post it here. I have never seen one go unanswered very long. You might also want to give this thread a good look. It has some very good info for the beginning pen turner; http://content.penturners.org/articles/2009/Getting_started_in_penturning.pdf. Grab some wood, make some shavings and have fun all the while being safe.

Thats funny, but so true. Dont forget about the whole different world, called Memphis. Im about 40 miles from there, and drive to it daily.
 
Welcome from West Tennessee! I live in Covington and commute 40 miles to Memphis, too.

Enjoy the forum. Everything you need for pen turning, (except the trial & error part.)
