Okay, while not a big drinker to any extent (I'm doing good these days to finish a 6 pack in the course of a year), I do have a taste for good Whiskey on occasion. I have a nice bottle of Jameson's Gold, that while I know isn't a big gun in the field is quote nice, and was thinking of adding a few other Irish Whiskeys to my collection of spirits. I wanted to see if there were any favorites that you guys might recommend.

I'd love to find a nice 10 year to celebrate our 10 year anniversary at the end of the month for example (The Jameson Gold was purchased during our Honeymoon to the Emerald Isle).

So what say you? Any Irish Whiskey aficionados in the house?

Drinking Irish Whiskey is very similar to trying to swallow red hot barbed wire. Scotch is not much better. Try some good Kentucky or Tennessee sipping Whiskey (sour mash). There are many good brands out there. Now be sure to sip it, not drink. If you sip, you can enjoy the beverage all day and stay on your feet. That just ain't so if you drink it. That calls for a nap!

I used to like Bushmills, not sure about Bouquet, Nose and fruit taste but it got me plaster pretty darned tight. I've also heard that Tullamore Dew is a fine Irish whiskey.

Back in the day my family was in the business. I'm not sure what the brand name was because it didn't have a label and was sold in mason jars. The locals thought it was pretty good stuff.

Spelling...

Just so you know, American and Irish liquor producers tend to favor the spelling WHISKEY, while Canadian, Scottish, and Japanese producers tend to favor (or should I say, favour) WHISKY.

Either way, I love the Kentucky stuff. My wife and I will be taking a long weekend this summer to travel the Distillery Trail in Kentucky. I wanna taste some Pappy Van Winkle 23!

While I don't drink much anymore, I was never a whiskey fan. I do however have fond memories of Tequila. If I could only remember them.

In Y'all just want some kick a$$ liquor there's some folks around here that have been known to put corn to a far better use than Corn Flakes. last I heard (mind you I said Heard) was 60.00 a gallon, and I "Heard" it was so smooth you didn't realize you had taken a sip until it hit your innards, then you knew you had just drank some FINE McNairy County Spring water.

You sure heard a lot of things.

Ken, I'll put what my kin produced here at the world famous "Golden Pond" up against anybody's 'spring water' for sip ability. Smooth as a new born baby's bottom, I'll tell ye. Pure as a Mother's milk, it tweer. Yesss sir!:eek:

I don't have much experience with Irish. Guess I never got into it. I've got some favorite Scotches and Bourbons I could recommend, if you're interested.

If you only sip strong stuff now and again, buy yourself a bottle of Macallan 12 or 18 (depending on your budget), which is scotch. I buy one bottle a year and make it last.... and I never tell any of my friends I have it in the back of the cabinet.

It's mine, all mine, bwwwwhaaaaaa!

I can't remember the name either but I think it started with Moon.:drink:

In Ireland they call it Poitin (Po-Cheen).....
