Nearly 200 tutorials have been emailed!!!

Today, I got a question that "floored" me. I never mention drilling the top of the peppermill for the shaft to go through!!!

So, here it is: When you do final sanding of the top, you have it mounted in your scroll chuck, using it's tenon as the grip. This is a very secure grip, and its easy to adjust it to be certain you are "revolving around the center" of the top. While you have it in this position, drill a hole, slightly larger than 1/4" (the shaft is 1/4" square) I usually use 5/16". IF you see that the hole is NOT dead center on the tenon (where the bit exits), there is no reason NOT to make the hole larger on the tenon end. When you mount the aluminum plate on the bottom of the tenon, it will "keep everything straight".

Thanks for the question!!!

Does this make sense??

There are just two things I didn't understand:confused:
1. Why did you send out nearly 200 emailed tutorials, while it's on your site?
2. Does this mean that there are nearly 200 peppermills out there without this vital hole and only one person noticed?

I read your tutorial and couldn't fault it, and really think you should share this wonderful gift with the IAP masses:wink:

That's funny Ed... wondered why the mill wouldn't work:eek: and why you wanted to charge extra for the final secret of making it work.:biggrin:

Seriously, I don't make the standard pepper mills... don't really like the little knurl knut on top of the mill... plus the screws are so tiny, I have a helluva time trying to get them installed... it's better now that I have cheaters....

I have a routine for the drilling and follow it religiously (about as religious as I get) to make sure I have all the holes drilled..... I also use the hole in the top to hold the top while I turn it round... only way I can get a concentric turning around the hole.

Chuck, you are a genius!!!

GIVE AWAY the tutorial, as it is. THEN, For $20 they can buy the "final piece"!!!! All I need to do is send a note that says, "You should drill a hole in the top--5/16" is good" PayPal $20 please!!

FABULOUS business plan!!!!

THANKS!!
