This review is a bout a company called Wood Stabilization Solutions International at Woodstabilization.com. This company is one to be avoided. They began by promising a product in 6 weeks, never happened, just so you are aware, paypal will not open a claim against a company after 45 days, I guess they knew this already though. After a lot of phone calls and empty promises, my system was finally shipped after 12 weeks. It took 12 days to be delivered to me in CT from CA. The package came looking like it was rolled here from CA. and since my neighbor signed for it, I was told any damage was my responsibility. There was a lot of damage and there was a lot of missing items. There promise of customer satisfaction went out the window when I asked to have the missing items sent to me. So now I sit with a bunch of worthless damaged garbage and am waiting for them to reply as to how they will handle this, so far it looks like they want to just duck out of the way and go and rip off the next person. I hate to write a review like this, but it is fact and it has happened and everyone should be made aware before they go and spend several thousands of dollars for a worthless system with no support from a company with no business integrity.

I should add that while the system was supposed to be such a high end item, the manufacturer saw fit to send it to me in a used box that was way too thin for such a heavy item. Avoid this company at all costs.

I live in CA. I could show up at their business and say I am an a tourney representing you. : )

Sorry to hear about this mistreatment. I would consult with a lawyer. Sometimes just a letter of intent can be quite motivating!

Thank you, but if you are not an attorney, you can get into trouble and I never recommend that anyone go pay someone a visit like that. I may take a little trip out there myself if it becomes a real problem. My attorney is waiting to see what becomes of this, he is also reading this thread and had a long talk with me on the phone about what to say and what not to say.

I was just kidding - not something I would do. Sometimes the : ) doesn't communicate enough humor. Hope it all works out for you in the long run.

If they are in California, sounded like they were. The consumer protections are quite liberal in that State. A call to the AG and a letter from them may assist this mater as well.

Interesting... This was lifted directly from their website, "Unlike some businesses, our ultimate goal is 100% customer satisfaction."

Perhaps their definition of 'satisfaction' differs from that which we would all accept.

There is something about this on their website that raised my eyebrow:

[NOTICE: We do not reveal any of the following information, so please don't ask:

  • Resin Formulas/Manufacturers
  • Parts Listing
  • System Diagrams or Designs
  • Detailed Instruction Manual (Only supplied to existing owners)
  • Pictures of Complete Systems
    • All photos on the web site of our systems have been doctored through both fake additions and parts, as well as digital enhancements and degradation to hide the true structure and configuration
  • System Process Diagrams or Descriptions of the Process
  • Corporate HQ or Fabrication Facility Tours or Visits
  • Samples of stabilized material
  • Samples of the Resins
  • Vendor Contacts
  • Partnership Information or Contacts]

Is this what most companies do?? I don't know..just asking

Neil,
Companies like this really tick me off. Make sure you file a complaint with the FTC. Although they won't do anything right away, they add the business to a database/list that company does not want to be on. There is a chance, albeit small, that depending on the number of complaints, the amount of money and people involved as well as their shady advertising practices on the net, an investigation might ensue.

I suspect the postal inspector is on the theory that it is fraud, perpetrated through the US Postal System, making it a Federal offense.

IF nothing else, mentioning this can get your guy's attention.

one thing I suggest is never link your bank accounts to paypal

don't give up, it will take time...I had a problem with a company out of state and it took about a year...the owner actually got arrested because he was doing this often and when the LEO's looked into it had committed fraud involving a lot of people and money

just keep following up.. squeaky wheel

I dealt with these people about 2 years ago and had less than satisfactory results. I will not go into details since I don't want this seen as advertising.

Sounds like it would be BADvertising to me. Based on Neil's experience coupled with yours, I'd be surprised if they ever do business with anyone from this site again.

Also from their website:
We are 500% Customer Focused and believe that every customer should be shown the utmost respect and curtesy when dealing with any representative of this company

Sounds like they are covering up a lie with lipstick and mascara! I guess they don't realize that repeat customers are what make a business, and bad news travels!

I think what Curtis is trying to say is that he had a bad experience with them and therefore developed a system of his own and you wouldn't have this trouble with the system he sells.

From have spoken with Curtis on several occasions, I got the impression that he would walk himself out to his own woodshed and give himself a good thrashing BEFORE he would allow himself to mistreat and/or misinform any customer of his E V E R!

He is big enough to do it as well!

Update

Just a little follow up, I recieved an anonymous email telling me I was wrong from the company. They didn't even have the decency to sign a name. As far as I am concerned, this company Wood Stabilization Solutions is a scam and should be avoided.

I also received an email from a person that asked to remain anonymous that had purchased a system a while back from this company. He was unhappy with his system for many reasons, but was kind enough to supply me with a detailed parts list and a drawing of how it all goes together, while I haven't touched it yet since they stated to me that using anything other than their products would violate the warranty(for the little that it is worth), I at least have an option now. He also offered to send me the activator for the stabilizer solution since I received none and they won't tell me what it is. I want to say thank you again to the anonymous person and I appreciate your assistance, I owe you one.

Neil,
That's really nice that someone would do that for you.

Any more word from the company itself? How about going to the head honcho?

I think he is the one that sent me the anonymous email, can't be sure since it was anonymous. The email was CCed to legal@, and Exec@. so who knows. Obviously I have their attention at least. Funny how they claim to be a small business in one email and yet they have a legal dept., strange, I am a small business and I never needed a legal dept.(until now at least).

I'll be praying for a positive outcome. It's just the hassle, anxiety and all the other ()$&*( it causes.

I got a phone call a couple of days ago from a fellow in California. He contacted me after reading this thread. He has nothing to do with the pen business or knife business but has a need for stabilizing. He too ordered a system from the same folks mentioned above and is also having problems. He has not even received his yet but is getting the run around big time. Also, Neil, I got your voice mail and called you back but got your VM! I did not leave a message so give me a call this weekend sometime.

My complaint to the Better Business Bureau was sent in and the company was notified on May 17th with 10 days to respond, so far it appears they have ignored it. .

Being the Vendor Liaison for this site, I thought it prudent to contact the company and have them respond to this claim. A very poor review can definitely impact one's business, so I thought they might want to respond and live up to their customer service claims.

I tried to intervene and have them open up communications with Neil, so that Neil could then remove this 'bad vendor' black flag, but the responses were not initially favorable.

Edit:Today, however, I was sent an email indicating that they have contacted the FedEx claims department on Neil's behalf, so I have hope that this company is living up to their customer service claims and investigating the damage caused by FedEx. Hopefully FedEx will take responsibility for the terrible state of that package.

Having received a favorable response from the company, I am satisfied that at least the lines of communication have been opened, and hope that Neil will have good news to post to mitigate the initial black flag! :)

So much for doing things the right way. This is what 500% customer satisfaction looks like from a lousy company.

Just a follow up on this part, they have done nothing to make this right and I don't forsee any positive action in the future. They are looking to get reimbursed from FedEx for the damage and I have to say that at this point, I don't think they will do anything to make things right on my end. Again, I advise all to stay away from Wood stabilization Solutions as they are not what they advertise.

Sorry for what you've had to go through but thanks for the heads up.

It is truly a shame when a review like this one is written, but that is part of what the review area is and should be. We all want to report a great company and great service, and we all dred writing a review like this one. This has cost me a lot of money, time, aggrevation, and a couple extra numbers on my blood pressure reading. But as long as the facts are there, they are the facts. I live by a code of honor instilled upon me, and will follow that code until my death. That means that while I will not always do what the masses feel is right, I will always do what is right in my heart. This review never should have had to be written but it was and I stand by it as the facts. I am here to help others and try to make sure that this does not happen to others. If anyone has had an issue with this company and would like to contact me privately, please feel free to join the others that have either emailed me or PM'ed me and tell me about your experience. Your identity will be kept as secure as you wish it to be kept.

I also want to thank Andrew for taking it upon himself to contact this company as an outside observer and try to mediate this issue. But sometimes there is just no reasoning with some people.

To keep everyone updated on this matter: I filed a dispute with Paypal on this case and won, small victory though since the deadbeats have screwed so many people, their account is closed and I will not be receiving anything other than the knowledge that Wood Stabilization Solutions International is a husband and wife team of thieves and hopefully this will help others to not be taken by them. What comes around, goes around and they will have to face their future as all of us do. I am satisfied with mine.

I have learned a great deal from this matter and will put that knowledge to good use. I will also find a way to make a system that actually works and will use that while I take their Harbor Freight parts and put them where they belong.

To sum this matter up...Avoid any dealings with a company called Wood Stabilization Solutions International or you may as well just use your money for fire starter, at least it will go to something useful.
