Hi All

I tried to buy a mandril from this elustrious company who are to busy making money from their countrymen. Dear American fellow pen turners. This is what this company had to say to me. "
We do not ship orders outside the United States. Our domestic orders have reached the point that we no longer have the necessary time to process out-of-country orders as well as taking them to our main post office for shipment.

One solution to overcome this situation would be for us to ship your order to a friend or relative here in the U.S. and they could forward the order on to you.

Arizona Silhouette Inc.

This really sucks. Why advertize on the web that you sell the mandrils. This is typical arogant, self important and I wish that my felloow pen makers don't support you.

Kind regards

Rog

Rog,

Mandrels are available here in Australia shipped overnight if necessary and sold nearly on your doorstep. Google GPW at Currumbin as well as so many other companies.

I have sympathy for this American company who have to complete a Customs declaration, package and post as well, having picked the item from stock. In the United States a shipping Company usually would make house calls both to take for sending and incoming goods allowing
these firms to be more efficient but add the international aspect further costs are incurred no doubt having caused concern to this company. In Australia freight free to the USA and other Countries is available with a minimum purchase with 2 to 4 days often to the USA eg. This company is Timberbits.com.

I have had great dealings with so many American businesses and feel warnings of boycotts etc are harsh. The true democratic way is to respect firms who declare their policies up front.

Enjoy your hobby as I do and have success. Kind regards Peter in Canberra.

Having stood in line for 2 hours to ship a box to Canada, I understand the reluctance of some vendors to pay employees to stand in line. Then there is the time and cost for traveling to the Postal Service service counter to wait in the line.

I have to stand in line with customs declarations to ship a box to a relative in the military stationed in Europe also --

For small businesses, success in attracting international orders shipped from the US does come with a cost burden. Bill is up front that he does not intend to raise the prices to everyone to pay the incidental costs for international shipping via postal service from the US --

Alternative shipping services have shipping costs elevated to handle customs etc.

Sorry Rog --- I will keep doing business with Bill. He does provide competitive prices and very very good shipping within his selected market nitche.

Rog, living in Canada Bill won't ship to me either. That's fine he doesn't carry anything I can't get elsewhere. It would be nice if his website made it a little more obvious he doesn't ship outside the U.S. Nothing worse than spending 1/2 hour or so making up an order and then finding out he doesn't ship. Living in a small town of 900 the largest lineup I ever had in our post office was 1 person ahead of me. When I want to ship a parcel I go in tell the women in the post office where it's going, and sign the customs form if needed. They do all the paperwork for me. Don't get that kind of service everywhere.

I understand your frustration. It would be better to have that restriction more prominently posted.

Ken stated my position well:
