Why do so many photos say "Imported for so and so"?

I love looking at the random photos that pop up on the left of the home page, and reading what style they are (when I don't already know) and what materials were used to make them. But it seems like half of them simply have a description of "imported for so and so" which gets disappointing.

They do mostly seem to be older photos, though. Did something happen to the site some years ago where the photos had to be restored or "imported" back into the site, thus losing the good juicy information?

Just wondering. It's been nagging on me for a while, so I finally just decided to ask.

Hmmmm... I just refreshed about 25 times and all of them I saw say "posted by" which means either I'm just very unlucky and didn't get one.... Or Jeff went and fixed where it says that. :)

The site went through an upgrade a while ago and I do know that there was a process to import photos across. That probably why that is being seen.
 
I think Hans hit it these are photois that were imported from the old sites software about 2 years ago..

In July of 2008 IAP went from Snitz to VBulletin. IIRC Jeff transferred photos of those members that requested it. Maybe that is why?

Thanks Dawn, I tried searching for an answer before asking, but I wasn't getting any hits based on what I was searching for.

Having worked in the IT dept. of a med. sized company for the past 25 years (almost), I figured it was probably something like that.

Usually when I see one I like click on it and then the row of photos across the top show those photos that came in before or after it and I browse some of those as well. So when I find one, I usually find a whole slew of them at once. Which would now make sense based on Dawn's contribution above.

That's gives me some "Learn'n" for the day, so I can go to bed shortly knowing I've grown just a wee-little more than I was when I got up this morning!

LOL Dave helps to know what to look for when you saw it go down! :eek:

With the excitement and trying to learn the new forum back then, I think most folks completely forgot about updating the info. If they know that someone is enjoying looking at what they made, maybe they will now. I for one am glad that you asked!!:smile:
