A couple of weeks ago James was in the area and dropped by and visited.
When he left he gave me this, the blanks inside were from a tree that fell on his shop a while ago. ( yes did damage but his insurance paid for the damage) I'm almost caught up on pens for my spring show run and when I get back from my next show I'll have 3-4 days to play in the shop and just
might turn them. Like the cigar box almost as much as the blanks

True, that box is very cool!! I love the colours. However, those blanks are amazing!! I would never had guessed that they came from the same tree.
I'll bet he never told the insurance company that he got loads of prized pen blanks from it:biggrin:

Skip I had full intentions in turning some closed end cigar looking pens out of them but the boss laid clame to the second from right and wants a Jr. Statesmen in blk/ty.

She has good taste Roy, that blank caught my eye too.:biggrin:
Will you be able to keep the colour differance transition point on one half of the blank? I think it would ruin the blank if that is where the cut line ended up.
While I like the 'imitation cigar' pens, I think most of them have ended up a little too fat and often have a big step from the body to the nib. Of course, that was to keep the cap and body flush. But I think they only look nice while they're closed.

Roy; Glad you like it, I certainly enjoyed the visit. I'd post some pics of what I left with, but I wouldn't want to be responsible for a bunch of people camping out in your yard, getting underfoot and all. :-) I'll post some of my results soon too, hopefully.

You better get to work on that jr statesman, Clock's a tickin, ya know.

I got that cross piece we talked about down and put it on my desk where I could see it, so hopefully I'll get that one finished up soon too. I guess it's about time.

Enjoy;
James

Boy that boss sure is getting grabby. That should be worth at least 4-5 batches of bread pudding! :eek::biggrin:

I knew the boss lady had good taste - now you owe her TWO pens . . . I think you might need more that 3-4 days to play in your shop my friend! :tongue: Awesome looking wood and I too love the box. That could make a pretty neat display at your show :wink:. Have fun and enjoy your play time!

Showed her highness that the cut will be right at the transition if the top was the lighter part of the blank, with the bottom barrel dark. She said hat's what she wants so after 38 years she gets what she wants,
