My 5 yr old is amazed watching this. I am glad it is all going well. We are watching the NASA channel. They have a camera on the fuel tank under the shuttle.

Sounds like everything went great for the launch... My parents were in VIP seating ( brother stationed at patrick afb ) and I hope they got great pics. Stuck at work, I couldnt even see video on the web :(

I remember being dragged out of bed, by my older borther and sister when I was around that age, so that we could watch John Glenn on our little black and white tv as he orbited the Earth. "What a long strange trip ..."

It is very cool to watch the launch. I really enjoy it when I am working in Mission Control and the Flight Director ask each position are the go for launch and everyone answers Go. Unfortunately, I am not working this mission but I will be working the very last mission in June.

Here are some pictures my co-worker took today from the console we man.

Very cool John!! Thank you for posting those pictures!

Working STS-135 has to be a tremendous honor, yet certainly a most bittersweet one!

Like so many others here, I am sorry to see the shuttle program come to a close. I hope that as we now look back to celebrate all the history that we have made, that we also display the wisdom, and the commitment, to shape the future anew.

Tom,
Read your post and then noticed your from Chandler Arizona. I lived in Chandler for a short time back in the sixties. Worked as a Tech Rep out at Williams AFB. I guess like everything else Chandler has changed quite a bit. Really liked it there.
