First is cross-cut acacia. I love the way the end of teh wood fibres glisten as the pen is twiddled in the light.

I picked this up when I was in France at Christmas. My brother-in-law is a carpenter there. He buys a forest from time to time, cuts chunks out of it, leaves them to dry. Took him ages t get started, because drying your first batch can take years.
