Well once again I have had a regular flat rate envelope returned and this time it was 3/4" thick this is getting stupid. So if you can ship 20 lbs. in them but can only ship as thick as a magazine what gives???The returned envelope did say to order padded flat rate envelopes is this replacing the regular ones???It also said that the padded ones are for parcels and the the card board envelopes are not. This is all new to me so anyone using the padded type and how much are you stuffing in them????Thanks,Victor

I see the weight has changed on the flat rates as well the medium is 20 lbs. when it was 70 lbs. before or maybe I'm losing it?The envelope used to be 20 lbs. US and 4 lbs. international right?Victor

I'd spend the extra 5-25 cents (5 based on paying online or 25 in the PO) and just go with the small flat rate box. They won't return that back to you!

Haven't used or even seen the padded envelopes, till I just looked online!

Victor is a federal run bus. you wake up tomorrow and the rules are changed. I guess they finally figured out their own bobo and now they are correcting it.
Sorry, that didn't heal the wound I know.

Okay the web site says you can ship up to 20 lbs. in the medium/large flat rate boxes, but up to 70 lbs. in the small flat rate,HMM?????How does that work 70 lbs. in the tiny box but only 20 lbs. in the bigger, what???Sorry done venting,Victor

That is the weight limit for International Flat Rate medium and large.
Four pounds is the limit for small FRB International.
Post office has also introduced two sizes of Regional Flat rate boxes that are sometimes cheaper than medium FRB, I think they are also a little smaller and have different weight limits.

They are making all kinds of changes with the flat rate stuff.I will have to look into the regional boxes to see what they are all about. Thanks Smitty I think my last order from you shipped in one of these padded jobs(?),Victor
