After hearing all the stories of pressure pots exploding and what have you I don't feel my skills are such that I could build a fool proof pressure pot.

I don't plan on making vast quantities of blanks, just a few every now and then to suit my specific needs and to learn how it works. Of all the materials I have turned I found aluminite to be the easiest to drill and turn. That is what i would be using, but I am open to suggestions on other materials.

I have looked around on Ebay and found some dental pressure pots for casting dental appliances. the one I have attached the link for can go up to 30psi. I am wondering if this would be sufficient to cast aluminite bubble free. The pot seems large enough for me to make an insert with two shelves on it so I could cast 4 to 8 blanks at a time, which would be plenty for me.

I would appreciate any feed back you want to offer.

NO. I typically pressurize to 45 lbs on some of my blanks. Sometimes as high as 60 on really dense material to get the acrylic or stabilizer in deep. I don't have vacuum yet so I do it that way. HF has a pressure pot that is only $100 and can be easily changed to suit.

$170 for something that can be done for way less than $100 ... Not NO but Heck NO!

HF on sale with coupon is the way to travel on this journey. Especially if you are only going to do a handfull at a time whenever the 'mood' strikes you.

But, as Lenny suggests e-mail Curtis and ask for his highly valued opinion.
