I upgraded my sprint phone because I needed the blue tooth wireless stuff for work. Word is coming up soon that if I don't run a wireless headset or run my phone through my cb, the fine for truckers will be $2075 first offence.

Anyhow..the question I have right now is my email. I entered my email address and password into the phone and I can clearly see what I entered is correct. I hit ok, and the phone takes a few seconds and then comes back and says my email address and/or password is incorrect..if the problem persists, contact hotmail.com. I don't know how to contact hotmail.com and don't know what the problem could be.

Are you adding specifically a Hotmail account?

If so per my Blackberry settings I got into "Email Settings" Mine is found in the Setup folder.

Click Add and for Hotmail I select the Windows Live then a pop down shows up with emails for @hotmail.com etc.

It then pops up @hotmail.com automatically so you only have to type in your actually email prior to @ then password and hit next.

Are you doing any other account type?

I tried it several times and now the email account went through and it is set up. A message popped into my computer email that said something about how I might need to change my email settings for it to save emails coming in or something like that or I won't be able to view them on the phone. Of course, I have no idea how to view email on my phone either! I know I accidently imported all my email contacts into my phone and discovered that I now have 100 or more contacts in my phone. I didn't know what to do, I mostly just want the phone numbers I always had in my contact list, so I manually deleted 99% of the email contacts that imported into the list. Pretty cool phone, but not being familiar with it makes things a little difficult at the moment.
 
You should get a new icon on your home screen that is a shortcut to the email account you setup on your phone.

As for changing settings you shouldn't have to do anything.

Blackberry emails are pushed from your account.

When you receive an email it is sent to your phone and stored on your "web" version of the email.

If you delete the email on the phone it is still on your "web" version.

Unless you "pop" your emails to an email client on your computer you need to make sure a setting is checked to either save or delete off the mail server.

Also generally after setting up the email on your phone it takes 15-20 minutes before you'll receive new emails to the phone. Once they start rolling in you will get emails in near real-time as someone sends it to you.

Thanks larry..I see the a couple junk emails showed up in the messages box, it splits the screen, emails on top and texts on the bottom. That's pretty cool, I'll be able to get my emails all the time now, long as I'm in cell range of course. Now I just have to figure out how to sinc the blue tooth to my cb radio so I can take phone calls and not have to use the silly wireless head set while driving around.
 
I was lost when i got my first smartphone(blackberry) also but after about 4-5 days i had it mastered.You'll figure it out pretty quick just playing with it.

With all of the smart phones that I am familiar with, you must also go into the phone's email set up function and enter the outgoing and incoming mail servers' names.

I.E. Something like pop.msn.com for incoming and for smtp (outgoing mail), something like mail.msn.com. Make sure that you have the server names (and spelled correctly)for both the incoming and outgoing mail servers.

Additionally, some accounts (and I belive that hotmail is one of these) requires the full name. I.E. something like Jeff.Powell@hotmail.com for the user name.

Check all three of those and you should be fine.

You don't even have to be in cell range. Anytime that that you hit a place that has a wifi hotspot (every truck stop on the planet has free wifi) you can get your mail via the hotspot.

The reason that I mention truck stops is because I am on the road too, and the thought of truckers checking e-mail while driving frightens me.:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:
