For you beard wearers. Ever have one of those days where you accidentally shave off part of your mustache and then try to correct it, only to make things worst. And then say to yourself, well it is time to start over and see what your face really looks like. Well, I did just that. Mary hardly ever notices changes on me but this time she kept looking at me and finally asked if I had changed something. When I told her what had happened, she said, "I don't like it". What is a guy to day? I had to laugh and said I wasn't too pleased with the results either.

Now to grow it back.

Been there, done that, John....and my wife is very passionate about here dislike of it. Every once in a while I have to shave to go into the refineries down here.....and boy is that a fight.

LOL yep, done that a few times myself. Every time I do people comment on how young I look, which them makes me think I should shave more often...but that requires too much work:tongue::biggrin:

Just do not try using NEAT for the removal, saw it done once, not pretty!:redface:

I'll bet you are 'REAL CUTE' sans stach.:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

I know where you're coming John. I keep my beard relatively short and trimmed around the edges but not shave in more than 40 yrs. My wife and kids have never seen me without a beard. I call my beard my "get-out-of-jail-card". If I ever want to disapear all I need to do shave and no one will recognize me:biggrin:. (6'4", 300lbs, no hair - lots of them walking around:wink:).

Nice thing is the beard and mustache will grow back, can't say the same for the top of the head:frown:.

You know you're getting older when you have more hair growing in your ears than on your head:rolleyes:. Never fear, it'll grow back.

Know the feeling

I've worn a beard a couple of times...not at the moment. Of course my wife noticed right off when I shaved it. I'm tempted to grow another one but ya know it's more danged work keeping a beard neatly trimmed than it is to shave ... of course I only shave on Sunday morning.

I've had my mustache and goatee for almost 30 years now. I shaved it off once, about 9 years ago, and my nose looked like Mount Everest! LOL.

I wore just a mustache for most of the years of my first marriage and a couple of years after the divorce. My son had never seen me without it. I shaved it one day and his reaction when he saw it was priceless.... he came running into the room and immediately skidded to a stop... his eyes big as saucers, all he said was "grow it back"... when I got to work, the only comment I got was someone asked if I had gotten new glasses.

I tried shaving mine off, after just such a mishap. My kids gave me all kinds of grief. I haven't touched it, but to keep it groomed in three years.

It's getting really gray now. I think it's time to trim it really short and get a fresh start.

I have a running fight with my wife about facial hair. She grows the craziest beards!

Nah, really, I do fight alot with her about my beard. I grow it every winter. I am kinda jealous of you guys that have wives that don't give you grief about growing a beard.

I think I would be in trouble if that happened. I have had a moustache since I was 17 and I am 55 now. I have only had a beard since I retired 3 years ago so I might get by with shaving it but I doubt that I will since I prefer trimming it once a week to shaving every day but if I tried shaving the moustache I probably would get run off since wife has never seen me without it in 34 years we have been together and probably would not recognize me without it.

Last June (2009) I started growing a beard. For some dumb reason I shaved it off a few days before thanksgiving. NO ONE NOTICE FOR 2 DAYS!!!!! Right before Christmas I started growing it back. Then towards the end of April I 'tried' to trim it. I would up with a go-te. I haven't even tried to trim since then (except for the mustache area). The guys here keep asking me if I am going for the Grizzly Adams look. I told them that would be nice to start with, but my goal is the Dusty Hill, Billy Gibbons, or William Lee Golden look :)

Ron; My wife likes me with a beard! She says it tickles!

My wife doesn't like it when I grow facial hair but whenever I'm on vacation I let it grow, especially come hunting season. This last time, after shaving the night before I return to work, she told me I looked funny. I give up!

Been there done that..well, didn't shave it 'all' entirely off...but should have ;(

And yes, I am one of those who truly enjoyed the Burma Shave signs :)

My daughter is almost 23 years old and has never seen me without a beard/mustache..
makes me almost want to shave the face clean just to see her reaction :)

No pics didn't happen :wink: Lets see what it looks like now. Unfortunately I do remember the Burma shave commercials.
