  • Go to the "home page" and view

    Votes: 107 50.2%

  • Start with the Casual Conversation forum

    Votes: 5 2.3%

  • Start with Show off your pens forum

    Votes: 2 0.9%

  • Start with a different, single forum

    Votes: 8 3.8%

  • Hit "new posts" and read headlines, then select

    Votes: 72 33.8%

  • Go to "quick Links" and select

    Votes: 5 2.3%

  • Go to "active topics" and select

    Votes: 5 2.3%

  • Other---please let me know what I missed!!!

In a recent conversation, we talked about the IAP. When you come here, how do you "view"?

I'm still new but I have learned a lot from the IPA. I have done woodwork all of my life but the little differences in pen turning and the CA finish have all been helped a great deal because of IPA. The site works fine - no doubt changes can be made but I give it a high grade.
 
Ed, what a great idea! I start on the home page then try to catch up on the rest of what intrest me. You never cease to amaze me with your ideas. Keep them coming.

I start on the Home Page, then check out Todays Posts. Then I just go where the spirit moves me:yin-yang:
 
I'm sure I'm not the norm... but I do a combination of 3 things:

1) Straight to new posts on my pc
2) "Current Threads" on Forum Runner (same way)
and less often but at least once a week from home page.

And that doesn't count the extra checking/browsing, etc as a moderator.
 
Our link is to the home page: from there Mike always goes to the quick links today's post first. I typically check our private messages first and answer as needed. Then I will read what is on first page, going to quick links today's post after that.

I have the site programmed so it opens to the forum page and I always scan down to the Penturning forum and continue right on down.
 
Computer opens to home page when I go on line. I go to forums or IM's. In forums I hit penturning, marketing ans shows, casual conversation, trades and give aways, individual classifieds and business classifieds in just about that order. Now and then I'll look at another forum or two.
 
Straight to the forum page. Start with penturning. Then other things we make. Then casual conv. the finishing section. Then to others if time permits. Sometime go thru almost everything.
 
I hit New Posts and first look for any new or interesting Business Classified ads. I hate missing the good stuff that so many members offer here. Then move on to any interesting looking posts.
 
I go to the home page, scan the headlines, if there's anything that interests me, I read it. After that, I usually go to the Penturning forum, again reading the things that interest me, then check the Polls, then the Casual Conversation. That is my regular routine. If I have more time, I start going into other forums as well.
 
It is called Google Reader!... it is actually how I discovered this place when I did a search for Wood turning.
I get the latest postings. read them there and if I feel my 2 cents are usable or would be useful I come to that posting with a single click.
 
I voted other.

I log into the forum then go to pen turning, then to casting, then SOYP then classifieds. that was my routine for a wile BUT lately with all the mud flying about I have been checking the home page and the HOT topics that has drawn me into the casual.

Opens up on Home Page and then i read the new posts and respond if time permits.
Then usually browse the for sale areas and then whatever catches my eye!
Spent a lot of time in the library...
Love the SOYP page!!

It's all good stuff!!

I certainly haven't seen the home page for a long time, the first that comes up is the Business Classifieds page and then look for any hits on any add I may have and then go straight to the "new posts" and read any new stuff that I see of interest to me.

I rarely go to any specific topic to start with, I endup all over the place depending on what the subject/topic takes me too...!

I have the home page bookmarked. From there I normally head to "New Posts". After that, who knows. Mostly wherever the new posts take me. Thanks for the post.
 
I come onto the forum via the home page, go to `introductions` then normally head to the `casual conversation` and finish off in the `show off your pens` section.

Sometimes I look over the classifieds to see if there are any good bargains on offer.
 
I go to the home page first. Then I look to see if there are any new post in my local chapter. Then I will see if any thing is new for sale. I will look for casual post that happened and are off the front page after that.
