Make kits in Stainless Steel? (I've wanted a De Lorain but I can't seem to locate one with the optional flux capacitor)

I know there is a "Gun Metal" but why not in a actual Blued Steel?

LOL, DeLoreans must have been the best bad sports car ever built. I'd love one too, even without the flux capacitor:biggrin:

I think mass produced kits will never be made from stainless because they are difficult to produce as they wouldn't be able to do a long production run before the tooling would need sharpening. It's also heavier and more expensive than plated brass. Of course, you then only have one flavour of finish too.

Besides, I think I have collected ALL the stainless nuts and bolts, so they can't find the material to make them with anyway:tongue::biggrin:

I think because of the fact that the stampings for tips, bands, caps and clips are not steel and also bluing ca wear fairly fast.

Blued Steel would look good for a while but I don't think the smell of the gun oil needed to maintain it would go over well and it would stain your shirt.

At one time a company offered "Black Chrome Plating" on guns. It was supposed to have the durability of chrome and the appearence of bluing. I've seen pics of guns plated with this and they looked good.

You can actually still buy a new DeLorean. There's a company that still assembles them from original parts. They'll rehab your old one, also.

I read an article a while back that they were trying to push out an electric version.
