Last Sunday night my house burned. This is my first chance to get on the IAP since then. My daughter brought her laptop over so I could let all my friends here know whats going on and to ask you to pray for my family and I. The house is still standing, but the insurance has declared the structure and all contents a total loss. I was at work at the time it started and my wife was home alone. Thank God the smoke alarm woke her up and she got out, so that is the most important thing. This is the most helpless I have ever felt in my life. Thank you in advance for the prayers. Listen folks, PLEASE go and check the batteries in your smoke/fire alarms right now. that is all that saved my wife.

Father, this world sometimes bewilders me and is beyond my understanding. I see poverty and disease, storms and earthquakes, war and killing. Many hearts are bound by ego and fear. Please strengthen my faith in your higher purpose and open my mind to the truth that everything is unfolding according to your divine plan. Let compassion and love for my brothers and sisters flow from me and may we all be uplifted by your glory. AMEN.

Sending my prayers to you and your family. My house flooded one time and it is a devastating blow. God bless you.

Sorry to hear about your house but glad to hear no one was hurt and I'm praying for your family.

About smoke detectors, don't just check the batteries, if your detector is more than five years old replace it. I know of an incident where there was a house fire and the smoke detector at the top of the stairs did not go off even though there was heavy smoke where it was. After the fire was put out the fire captain pushed the test button on it and it beeped like normal.

Agreed, thanks to all for the prayers.

Tim:
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. When you get relocated, send me a pm. I bet I have some tools, blanks and components that could use a new owner.

I am very sorry for your devastating loss! I am very relived that the family is OK!

I am sorry to hear of your loss.

I stopped what i was doing, and prayed as soon as i read the post. I will continue to pray for you and your family.

Keep your head up and know that it will get back to normal one day hopefully soon.

Prayers sent, Candles lit

Tim, Do you need anything like Clothes? Coats? Something to get by while the insurance kicks in?

I think we're ok on the clothing, several people from our church have brought different items. Thanks for asking, and thanks to all for the prayers. Today we continue with the inventoy of the contents for the insurance.

just a quick update, inventory continues, only 3 rooms remain, then we can get into getting the remainder of the house removed from the property. I'm back at work now, so that is slowing things down some. Please continue to keep my family in your prayers.

I'm so glad no one was hurt physically. I know that the emotional pain is real and deep. My prayers for you and your family as the rebuilding begins.

:worship:Our prayers are with you and your family. We thank God that your wife's life was saved! Please send us a PM when you are back on your feet and we will be happy to send you some supplies for your shop so that you can soon turn again. Something like this takes a while to get over, but having a release that you enjoy will often help you get a break from toll of the emotions and stress that you are currently enduring. God's speed.
I also want to second your recommendation to check out your smoke detectors but also to check your furnaces as well .. a neighbor 2 doors down lost their home last weekend - also in the wee hours of the morning. Be safe friends.

We will send you a pm as well in case this thread gets "lost" in the time it takes you to get back on.

So sorry to hear about your loss and very glad that your wife escaped the fire without any harm. I have just read and heard a report by a local fire captain that ionization smoke alarms are safer then the most popular kind.
Send a PM and I will also send you some supplies when you can turn again. Also let us know if there is anything that you or your family need. I am sure that most of us have extras of many household items, at least we do. This is my community and I would be pleased to assist you in any way possible.

Don't know how I missed this one, but please know prayers are coming your way.

I know that this type of disaster can rob you of your strength, but rest assured that you have a large family of friends here within the IAP.

God bless you and your family during this time.
