The next thing to be banned from flights ??

anything could be turned into a bomb if you wanted to. I mean we've already seen underwear and shoes attempted on planes and now this pen from a teenage boy.

Unless they want to turn the airlines into the equivalent of ConAir (everyone but the Marshal handcuffed in place) there is no real way to make it 100% safe. And even that may not be 100%.

Less than a 1/2 mile from my house. We saw several helicopters circling last night when leaving for my boys' baseball practice. Didn't know what was happening until we got home and my daughter was talking (aka -- texting) about it with her friends.

I was just going to post about this story. Pretty crazy. That is ironic on the school name too. At what point does someone say:

"Hey I think rigging the pen to explode would be a good joke!"

Not to sound old, but it is so fitting to say: "Kids today."

Well, even the Cons took over ConAir!

Reading the report it seems that a very sensitive explosive such as TATP was used. Would be very easy to turn a pen into a bomb and the beauty of TATP and similar is that it is flame sensitive so you don't need blasting caps to initiate it, (or impact if you're very brave/stupid)

The pen is mightier than the sword, but only if the pen is held by Chuck Norris! or by a student of Turning Point Academy!

Oh come on... I haven't read the news story, but seriously... didn't you guys play with firecrackers when you were a kid? Didn't you always want to make something blow up?

It's a very guy thing... Things burning, crashing, blowing up... LOtsa noise fire and smoke.

The noise, fire, and smoke is half the fun of model rockets, racing engines, pulling tractors, potato guns, and the space shuttle if you ask me.

I never wanted to blow some-ONE up though... I'm not defending whatever the kid did at school. (Yeah I made a couple stink bombs too...)

Not to defend the kids, but their brains do not think about consequences. So they probably thought it would be COOL, but didn't imagine that anyone would be hurt. Adolescents brain hard wiring is not complete until about 25 years old. Wonder why the Mom was arrested?
