Well, Robert,
The 9000 is made for the Parker compatible ball point pens.

The Baron is designed to take a roller ball or fountain pen. A quick selection for the Baron rollerball would be the Schmidt 5888.

I'm laughing so hard I have tears runing all over the keyboard.
As the somewhat expert Ed said the 9000 EZ writer fits parker style ball points, the Baron comes with a Hauser POS, that needs to visit file 13, I would recomment a Schmidt 5888, as an expert:wink:.

Well, Roy... As the expert... I value your opinion... I like the LOVE the Schmidt 5888 refills that say "Made in Germany".... right on the barrel.........

BUT.... the PRIVATE RESERVE steel refills seem to write just as well.....What's a brother to doooo!!!! ROTFLAMAO!

Get Private Reserve 5888 and the Private Reserve for the Parker refills and put them in your pens .They have sold more pens for me the past 3 shows than I could have dreamed of. But you have to let them try them and do so talking about them.
At least thats what I think.
 
BTW, The new Private Reserve refills say Made In Germany---much to PR's irritation, the laws in the USA made this necessary, forcing him to make a new master (and pay for this master) for his refills.

Terry (Private Reserve) was not happy the day I caught him on the phone.
 
I am convinced to try the PR refills.

What colour would you suggest, Black or Blue, as the standard. I have not yet done a show (next month is my first), and have only sold a few pens.
Should I keep enough of both colours on hand for all pens.
Or should I put one colour in all pens and keep a few of the other in case someone asks for it.

Personally, I'm a fan of Ed's method... Put one into your demo pen. Have people write with it.... Then let them know that you'll swap in a brand new blue OR black one into the pen they choose. This has many benefits.. It gives them the choice - and makes it known that you are giving them a upgrade with the sale. Its also means you can have a smaller number of refills than pens and makes sure to not let the refills have any drying issues (the original cap stays on until in the hands of the buyer). And you might even sell them some extra refills while you have them out :)
 
In sales training this is called a "minor point close".

"Do you want blue or black in your pen?" When they answer this question, you have also sold the pen. Don't use the question until you know which pen is the one they like the best. Once you start putting the refill in this pen, they have to STOP you to avoid buying the pen.

They really wanted it, you just saved them the difficulty of saying "Yes, I WILL spend money for it" Instead all they had to say was, "I like blue ink".

Same result, easier on the customer.
 
I do it a little different than others. I load all my pens with the black EZ9000 except one that has a stock black refill. After determining the customers preference of writing instruments as a ballpoint I ask him to just randomly pick one from the display and test ride it all the while telling him/her to be ready to be surprised and that the refill come in blue also. The look on their face is surprise 99% of the time and at that point I hand them the pen with the "stock" refill and say "this is what is in all other pens that use a parker refill". While packing up their new pen I ask if they want as a free second refill a blue or black refill. and give them a second one "free". of course it's built into the price of the pen. I tell them the refills are $3.50 each or 10 for $30.00, you'd be surprised how many opt to buy 10 on the spot.

BOTH of these are EXACTLY the same pen refill. (Schmidt and Private Reserve) These are both made right off of the same line, same ink, same everything. That would be why they right so well .. :smile:

I'm just curious... why is that a bad thing? They ARE, in fact, made in Germany, right?

It isn't a bad thing for them to say "made in Germany." By law any import coming into the states has to be marked either by sticker or permanently with the country in which it was made. According to what Terry said today, he had the molds changed to accommodate this so that there would be no problems with his imports.
